Modern books for teen girls

I’ve not reached the teenage stage with my kids yet and need to send a gift. I usually buy the classics of my youth but I want to change it up a bit and send something current and also that might be entertaining/funny at this weird time.

She’s 13 and a great reader but still would rather not send anything too issue driven etc or too forward in themes.

Thank you!

Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan’s books are great fun. The teenagers in them are a bit older than 13, but there’s no overt sex and they’re very kind-at-heart books with laugh-out-loud dialogue. Spoiled, and Messy. Oh, and The Royal We.

Jessica Townend’s Nevermor is terrific and probably aimed at about the right age. There is a sequel as well.

Maybe also Catherine Jinks’ Evil Genius books, which are inventive and funny, but quite serious at heart.

And Maureen Johnson’s Truly Devious and sequels.

How about the City of Ember series, or the Hunger Games?

These are great, thank you, lots ive not come across here. She has read and liked The Hunger Games and City of Ember looks like her kind of thing.

The Maureen Johnson looks great too and a bit different so have gone for those 2 and will write the others down for future reference as well.

If she liked the Hunger games then the Divergent series is good, also the Delirium series and anything else by Lauren Oliver.

Maybe Bloom by Nicola Skinner too. I just picked it up from a charity shop recently, not sure if it will be too young for my about to turn 13 year old but it looked really different and too lovely to leave behind and Amazon reviews are really good.

The Gone series by Michael Grant is very popular too.
