Has anyone else given into the controversy and started this? I'm a few chapters in and enjoying it so far.

I have it on my to read pile, hoping to start soon. She did an interview on the BBC Books and Authors programme which I found interesting. She mentions the controversy on there.

It's an important novel, whatever the issues... the only quibble we had was that there was overuse of Mexican words, which, rather than aided the sense of place felt rather alienating www.tripfiction.com/american-dirt-novel-set-mainly-in-mexico/

There's a lot of controversy surrounding her portrayal of Mexico and Mexican people.
