Milkman by Anna Burns

I bought this after reading the thread about our book of the decade. I just can't get on with it. Far from finding it compelling, I am struggling to engage with it at all.

Is there anyone who ended up loving it who felt like this at the start? I've read about a fifth if it and feel like ditching it but am worried it might all be about to turn round

I really disliked Normal People.

I think I liked it but found it difficult to get on with. The characters were very vivid to me and I that's not always the case with easier reads.

I LOVED it. But I started listening on audiobook and the narrator has a really friendly warm voice so I think that helped. Then I finished it by reading the book. Still think about it often a year later.

Try the audiobook. It is mesmerising and captured exactly what the Troubles felt like to me as a child. My book group loved it.
