I’m listening to the radio reading on BBC Sounds (vg, Peter Serafinowicz) but half way in I’m finding it a bit worrying as the lead character of Claude (who I love) is having a very tough time, and for some reason it’s really getting to me. Has anyone read it and can tell me whether Claude is going to be ok in the end? Because if he’s not then I’m not carrying on.
I realise that this is actually not the sort of book where you are meant to worry about the fate of the characters as they are all transparent pieces in the author’s game of metatextual chess, but I really need to know.
