Can anyone help me remember this book?

As a child (35+ years ago) I remember reading a book about a girl who had/found a log cabin type building (maybe in a wood) which she decorated with seashells. I clearly remember her covering the whole of the inside with shells.
This has bugged me for years and I’d love to read it again if it ring any bells with anyone

Julie Andrew’s Mandy? There were woods and a cabin and an orphan girl.

Was it definitely seashells, not stencils? Thinking of Back Home by Michelle Magorian, published in 1984.

Made me think of Back Home too.

Not sure why - seeing it was a cottage not a log cabin, and stencils not seashells!!

I also thought Back Home even though that doesn’t include any shells!
