Can anyone name this book I read as a child? 2 brothers living in a summer house.

Not sure if it’s a child’s book or not, I’d have been a teenager.

Set in the past.......maybe Victorian times. Two orphan brothers who were kicked out their house and squatted in the summer house in the grounds of a big house. I think one of the brothers was disabled. The woman who lived in the big house found them but let them stay and I think let the older one do work for her. She gave them food. I seem to remember coal mining being involved as well but not sure if I’m getting 2 books muddled up.

I think it’s Our John Willie, by Catherine Cookson. Was there something about digging up a skeleton? Or bones? My mum was a huge Catherine Cookson fan and we had quite a few of her kids books in the house growing up.
