I think I might have done this thread last year
Xmas Smile

What books are you hoping to receive for Christmas 2019?

I love to get books for Christmas! What I'm always hoping for is someone giving me a book if not thought of and really get immersed in . Or indeed several!

Second to that I'd like to receive some book tokens.

Despite the fact I have a ginormous pile of books on my to read pile(s). Xmas Grin

I think receiving/buying books is getting to be a fetish with me Xmas Confused

I'm hoping for jenny Thompson's autobiography.

SunshineInMySprocket · 22/12/2019 17:20

Hoping for Tombland and Big Sky ~ fairly confident that I will get both as DH asked for specific titles. Love getting a fat book for Christmas and indulgently reading it over the week between Christmas and New Year!

dementedma · 22/12/2019 17:26

The Starless Sea
The Body - Bill Bryson

Bickles · 22/12/2019 17:28

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

ritzbiscuits · 23/12/2019 21:09

@Didiusfalco Thanks for mentioning John Crace's new book - I'll be buying it for myself this Christmas. He's fantastic!

Hellokittymania · 23/12/2019 21:25

I don’t have anybody to buy me presents… So I just had a look on I books… Some of the books mentioned here sound really interesting, I think I would like Disney twisted tales and the five. Sorry, I’m visually impaired and using dictation.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2019 21:31

I've got The Five on Kindle, but haven't started it yet.

Hoping for Underland by Robert Macfarlane and Bill Bryson's The Body. I also asked for the Dishoom cookbook, but cheated and bought it for myself!

Didiusfalco · 23/12/2019 23:16

@ritzbiscuits oh brilliant! I hope it’s good. I might have to pick it up after Christmas if no one has bought it for me.

Olive Again & The Body please Santa (or you could always go with hand cream again)

user1487194234 · 26/12/2019 08:47

David Mitchell's Sweet Sorrow

AuntieMarys · 26/12/2019 09:03

I got Olive Again, the Carer by Deborah Moggach and Bone China by Sarah Purcell

SunshineInMySprocket · 26/12/2019 14:07

I didn’t get either of the books I asked for but did get The Testaments so pleased with that. I have my eye on my amazon wish list to see if any of the Kindle books on my massive wish list go on sale in the next few days!

inthekitchensink · 28/12/2019 10:06

Very happy, I got The Salt Path, The City of Girlf, Tidal Zone - all ones I’d been dying to read and a lovely one by Cerys Matthews called Where the Wild Cooks Go with lovely recipes, poems & music playlists, just gorgeous

Bowednotbroken · 28/12/2019 10:10

Rory - I have relatively recent copies of two SPSS books that are just gathering dust now my doctorate is done with. Would be very glad to off-load them if useful. Pm me for details if interested (just postage!!)

Beebumble2 · 30/12/2019 09:27

I bought myself The Country Girls Triology by Edna O’Brien. It was on Radio 4 recently, but I only caught snippets. I think I read the first volume years ago. It’s a long read, but worth it.

I usually buy from Charity Shops, world books( via eBay) or if it’s unavailable or newly published I go to my lovely, local, independent book shop.
