Are they really worth the read? Seen all the TV eps (and re watching now on sky Atlantic). Is it worth the effort to read the massive books, or not really?

They are real page turner's and very easy to read

Aargh! Flipping auto correct apostrophe!

Earlier ones are great... but then he loses his way a bit and they ramble a little.

Also, he hasn’t finished writing them all which annoys me as I hate a long gap between books in a series as I tend to forget.

nocoolnamesleft · 10/12/2019 21:11

Biggest problem is how unbelievably bloody long we've been waiting for the next book.

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/12/2019 21:13

Dd18 absolutely loves them, she's onto the later ones now and her and her bf take turns reading each other a chapter each.

Queenoftheashes · 10/12/2019 21:14

Love them. As per pp the wait is a joke for the latest.

They’re a great read although like @fishonabicycle says they go a bit rambly (if that’s a word!) in the middle. I do find the ages of the characters a bit disconcerting though as Dany is 11 when she marries Kahl Drogo and Sansa and Joffrey are I think 13 when they’re married. I guess that would be how it was in the Middle Ages though. I just thought of them as their characters IYSWIM rather than the ages they are in the books.

I don’t think they’ll ever be finished though 😡

LoonyLunaLoo · 10/12/2019 21:20

Oh and you won’t be able to put them down, so prepare to lose a few months of your life 😂

beguilingeyes · 11/12/2019 07:33

I really enjoyed them. but now I kind of regret starting them as I don't think he's ever going to finish the series. Or even produce the next book at this rate.

Marriedtoapenguin · 30/12/2019 10:58

I do wish he would hurry up and finish as he's not getting any younger.

Can't help the creative process when the TV series based on the books has already ended and is significantly different to the source material.
