Feels like an age since I've had a book that I couldn't put down. Last one I really enjoyed was Apple Tree Yard, I think.

Any ideas?

Sister by Rosamund Lupton was unputdownable.

Lasting Damage by Sophie Hannah!!!! The biggest mindfuck I’ve ever experienced

Beartown by Fredrik Backman
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

Another recommendation for Sharon Bolton, particularly Now You SeeMe. Such an excellent writer and brilliant at invoking a disturbing atmosphere.

I recently read Dark Chapter by Winnie Li. I bought the book several months ago after seeing her speaking at an event. I guess it’s fictional, but strongly based on real events. It’s something I’ve had experience of, and it rang true for me.

I found her writing very interesting, and look forward to her next book.

Tempted to give the above mentioned Sophie Hannah but the last one of hers I read just seemed to keep repeating the premise on the back of the book blurb and didn't actually get anywhere. Also the relationship between the two detectives never gets anywhere.

Exciting - thanks all!
