Struggling with this a bit. I'm about a quarter of the way through and not one to give up on a book usually. Does it get better? Would be interested in others thoughts on it, good or bad...

This was one of our book group choices last year, and sadly, it was one of the very few books which most of us didn't finish.Everyone struggled, and no one really liked it.

I gave up on it. The words were just washing over me- I need the words to grab me, not wash over me!

I gave up on it, and I've read Proust ffs. My best friend (who usually gives me great book recommendations) raved about it. I didn't get it at all

Glad I'm in good company. I've read a good bit more so am loathed to give up. I sort of enjoy it when I'm reading it but when I pick it up again I have totally forgotten what's happening and what it's about. I hope someone who likes it comes along and explains why...!

I gave up on this - life's too short.

Aurignacian · 23/10/2019 22:28

I finished it but wasn’t enthralled.

HappydaysArehere · 24/10/2019 08:43

I remember reading this. It was a struggle. I think I eventually tried hopping through it.

It's back at the library now as someone had a request in for it. Poor them Grin Only half read, so one of the few books I've given up on along with Cloud Atlas an Wild Swans.

I have this lined up on my Kindle, not started yet, and I've been put off a bit now.
I am in a bit of a reading rut and need something that will really grab me but not be too much effort.
Might slide it back down the TBR list

I loved it Grin. but I have to say I can't remember all that much about it - really enjoyed it though.
