Have you read The Poisonwood Bible? It's a well written, epic family saga, that just draws you in.

You mught like The Susan Howatch family sagas such as Penmarric, Wheel of fortune, The Rich are Different etc

Eve Chase's books are so good, try Black Rabbit Hall.

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (can't believe you won't have read that)
The Happy Prisoner by Monica Dickens
According to Mark by Penelope Lively

East of Eden - Steinbeck
No More Meadows - Monica Dickens
And I second The Poisonwood Bible

Forsyte Saga?
Some of R F Delderfield and A J Cronin - a bit old fashioned but I love them. Also Neville Shute and Howard Spring.
Mary Wesley? The camomile Lawn might fit the bill.
Joanna Trollope
If you're after family sagas particularly I liked Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club.
An American writer called Elinor Lipman - could come under the chick lit banner but I think her writing is intelligent - my favourite is 'The Way Men Act'

Have you read any Trollope (Anthony, not Joanna!) I find them surprisingly readable.

There is an Australian/New Zealand writer called Ruth Park, again, slightly old fashioned now but funny, atmospheric and very readable.
