Recommend a female detective like Maeve Kerrigan

HI all,

I loved Maeve Kerrigan, Ruth Galloway and Thora Gudmundsdottir (Icelandic female cop). I have started the Sara Ramsey ones and I'm not loving them. I also read the DCI Anna Tate one and really disliked it - I had the crime solved about 5 days before Anna did!!!!

I like something with a witty, intelligent but not goody-goody cop. Anyone got a good series to recommend?

Thanks

Have you read Claire McGowans Paula Maguire series? I LOVED this series, read it in a week on holiday last year.

Casey Hill's Reilly Steel series? US detective Reilly takes up a post in Dublin for family reasons. There are 7(?) of them, starting with Taboo.

I have just read the first two in Kerry Wilkinson's series based on DS Jessica Daniel, who is with the Greater Manchester police. First one is called Locked In, then Vigilante. Have just started Woman in Black (number 3).

Are you reading in print/paper or Kindle/ebook format? I also love Sara Paretsky, but she and Sue Grafton's KInsey Milhone are both private investigators not police detectives.

You mention loving psychology. Val McDermid's Carol Jordan & Tony Hill series pairs a policewoman (and in subsequent book(s) her team members including lots of women), with a psychological profiler called Tony Hill (male). While there is lots of unresolved tension and an element of will they/won't they she has so far resisted the temptation to let them have sex and/or start a romantic relationship (as of book #9 in the series - I still have another to catch up with).
