Ooooo helllooo there !

Are we sticking to just royal books or books were members of the RF feature as side characters ?

QueenOfTheAndals · 03/02/2019 19:38

Was Margaret Rhodes a cousin on the QM's side?

I read The Last Curtsey. That should definitely be added to the list.

Clionba · 03/02/2019 19:53

That sounds like a great book, I saw Margaret Rhodes interviewed once, she was fascinating. What a tragedy about the Crawfie book! I've always wanted to read that one.

Thank you Curly

I currently have 3 books I’m reading

  1. My book club
  2. Call the midwife (just got into tv series)
  3. This relevant to the thread www.amazon.co.uk/Ungrateful-Daughters-Maureen-Waller/dp/0312307128?tag=mumsnetforum-21

It’s very interesting- Queen Mary & Anne

@whithershalliwander
The book about the Stuarts looks interesting.
I only really know about the RF during the From the Victorian era onwards; so this book group, recommendations and discussions will be quite an education.

Am an avid lurker on the S and B thread and read the Princess Margaret book over Christmas as it was recommended there. Have downloaded the Princess Alice book but just had to delurk to tell you that I have just found the Shawcross biography in hardback in a charity shop for £1.50. It's something of a brick but such a bargain I couldn't resist.

By what date should we have read the Princess Alice book for discussion? Or is it just adding our comments as we finish?

beanaseireann · 08/02/2019 07:32

Anyone else getting lots of 'Royal' based book recommendations from Amazon now ?

spinabifidamom · 08/02/2019 21:03

Ooh sounds like fun.

certainlymerry · 09/02/2019 09:37

I've managed to order quite a few of these books from the Library. Princess Athlone is 99p on Kindle.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/02/2019 14:13

A recommendation from @bettythebutterfly on the RoyalS&G thread about the ladies who made the then Princess Elizabeth ‘s wedding dress The Gown I’ve just downloaded it as it was 99p on kindle.

Right I've found you & thanks for starting our royal book club @CurlyWurlyTwirly
Well I've just reached Chapter 4 on Princess Alice & so far so good.
Prince Leopold would have been an amazing King but not to be as he was the youngest brother.
Princess Helen sounds lovely.
