Trying to remember books I loved as a child for my dd but one remains elusive. I read it as a small child in the 80's and the book was quite old then!
Its about a family or at least the daughter who for some reason has to suddenly stay with relatives somewhere, Im pretty sure in Somerset ,with Midsommer in the name. For some reason there is an American house guest interested in history and has learnt that the house is apparently haunted by a ghost called Chloe. One of the main character relatives probably a cousin? , who bears a resemblance to this Chloe, a girl who lived in the house years ago, therefore dresses up as her and " haunts" the guest so he enjoys his stay more. The main character is obsessed with another relative/neighbour's gazebo as she's never seen or been in one and when he says she can have anything she wants she requests tea in the gazebo. Her female relative ( who dressed as Chloe ) requests a ride on his new horse which he had said he'd never let anyone else ride.At the end as she leaves the house , the owner ( might be her aunt? ) lets her choose a hunting spoon as a goodbye gift.
I realise this is all vague - the only detail Im absolutely certain on is the dressing up as Chloe to haunt the guest. I've tried Google but it hasn't helped.

"The Otherwise Girl" by Keith Claire?

Thanks for the suggestion but I just googled it and it's not that one.
The ghost Chloe wasn't a main character. The story was very Enid Blytony 'jolly hockey sticks" kind. The main character wasn't very keen on stayin with these relatives but then had an amazing time filled with tennis and food etc. Then midway the children concocted this idea of bringing the Chloe ghost back to life for just one night to please this male house guest.
