DH has to put on order in for a design book and says I can have a couple of books too, gor bless him.

Now as you may know I now live in Australia but am a Pom at heart, I used the library here for literature and am not really coming up with anything I want. My interests are, London, food and humour - oh god I 've jsut reminded myself I must get the latest Jack Dee dvd - but what books have you bought recently that you've really enjoyed?

clerkKent, that is very thoughtful of you as North London used to be my stomping ground. however I have read it already. Someone was telling me the other day that it may be made into a film with Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench - that should be good.

I have used up selection on 2 Jack Dee videos, there's no one quite like him over here ie miserable, acerbic and witty. too much sunshine you see.

Its not about London, but I have heard good things about "Julie/Julia" the diary of an American woman who tries to cook a Julia Child recipe every day for a year, and in the process finds herself!

Bill Bryson's "Notes on a Small Island" is the funniest book on Britain that I have ever read. But perhaps you have read it?

suzywong · 02/03/2006 13:36

yes I have read Bryson thanks, but I like the Julie/Julia idea

thanks a lot for these
