Surely you must have read it by now?

To start us off, I think the thing that struck me most reading it back to back with Black Moth was how exactly she'd transposed the characters from BM. Andover's conventional best friend, his frivolous brother and sister, his boring brother-in-law, the woman he abducted, and her husband (complete with watered-down highwayman past) are all there, just as before, and it makes the melodramatic plot of These Old Shades infinitely more fun.

I do prefer the later regency novels. An not sure Jude law is quite saturnine enough. Trying to think who would be .

SilkStalkings · 23/05/2012 18:41

Would have to be a real teenager for Leonie I think, somebody not famous yet. Sean Pertwee is my favourite for any older pokerfaced hardcase duke roles going. Also for the next Dr Who but I digressGrin.
Oh wouldn't it be lovely if the Beeb were a whole series of GH TVmovies? Proper Sunday drama slot. Tyger Drew Honey's maturing nicely for GH casting...

PrematurelyAirconditioned · 23/05/2012 18:52

There's a whole slew of adorable younger brothers for TGH to play - Frederica's middle brother, Barbara's brother Harry who spoiler deleted, etc before he grows up to be one of the younger romantic leads - Charis's young man perhaps, and then Sherry in Friday's Child.

Oh god when Harry dies Sad

Tdh as jessamy in Frederica or the boy with debts in Frederica

James Purefoy then? Was just swooning over him in Vanity Fair last night, trying to get DH to get his haircut the sameGrin (he did admire the "mighty pair of bugger's handles"). Might not be tall enough but def played quite a hardcase in the Rome series.

Ooh I've been re reading my GHs. What's next, will try to dig it out?

Incaminka · 24/05/2012 08:11

GH so much FUN!
Vidal - what about Ralph Fiennes? No, too cold, or maybe Withnail - old but played a smashing Pimpernel. Actually no - I've got it - Damien Lewis! Really mercurial acotor, right age, right hair, charismatic, frosty when required..

SilkStalkings · 24/05/2012 13:55

Speaking of Withnail, Paul McGann does frosty.

Hal the vampire in the latest series of Being Human for a younger GH hero?

Sorry, I meant Avon!

IShallWearMidnight · 24/05/2012 14:55

did you not see Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisbourne? He can do evil to me anytime pretty well.

Damian Lewis for Saint-Vire then, since he's ginger and usually has an unpleasant expressionGrin.

ohh, I like her for Leonie, presumably she can add a bit of oo la la to her accent for the occasion.

nkf · 25/05/2012 19:39

Bonammy Ripple has had a string of mistresses so I don't think he's homosexual at all.

There's another Heyer with a girl dressed as a boy. Forget the name.

minsmum · 25/05/2012 20:57

Sylvester, his twin brothers widow married Sir Nugent Fotherby & took the little boy to france. Is that the one

talkingnonsense · 25/05/2012 21:13

The masqueraders has cross dressing- quite confusing in the first couple of chapters iirc. Benedict cumberbatch in 5 years time for Avon? And Draco ( Tom Felton? Fenton?) as rupert- imagine hIs hair messed up and smiling. Can we have Americans? I'd like Darren criss from glee as sherry.

PrematurelyAirconditioned · 25/05/2012 22:44

I love The Masqueraders. The Corinthian is the other one with a girl disguised as a boy.

If we're doing the connected series then next would be Regency Buck, then An Infamous Army, and then we'd go back to where we left off, in order of publication with Powder and Patch, then Masqueraders then Convenient Marriage.
