White rice & pasta - filling & healthy

Ok so this might sound like a daft question but does anyone follow filling & healthy and occasionally have white rice and pasta? (boiled rice and fusilli twists).

I have tons of the stuff in the cupboard and hate wasting food or money. I'm planning on having 3/4 f&h days a week and count points the remainder of the week. This is week 1 and just had a sneaky peak on the scales and looks like I've lost 3lbs !! I was planning on having rice or pasta during the week (so in total probably 2 portions a week) and thinking I might just use up what I have before switching to brown. Saving for holidays, MOT due, loads of other expenses coming up and not really in a financial position where I can throw money away. I think its just the fibre content that is different. Help!!

If I am out then I don't worry about this. Otherwise I've only eaten brown/ wholegrain.

You can always point some days anyway. I found that if I followed h&f then pointed it back it didn't make much difference (and sometimes it gave me a glass of wine back!)

Not doing weight watchers, but currently following low GI diet so should be switching to brown but am similarly disinclined to waste what I've already bought. As long as you strictly limit the amount you eat (eg 30g rice maximum, 45-50g pasta uncooked) and eat it slowly so that your stomach realises it's full, you will be fine.

30g rice or 40 of pasta really? That isn't enough for me i do 45g rice and 60-75g of pasta and I am at target weight btw!

Good to know you can have a bit of a bigger portion and still lose weight. Thanks Smile

I think my biggest piece of luck is that dh eats what he's given without complaining so did ww with me Grin . So our portions have 2b reasonable or I'd have a riot on my hands!

Ahh that is lucky! My dh is a pain in the bum with his eating and doesn't like rice, pasta, veg - things I generally love (even roast potatoes- everyone loves roasties!!Grin ). I'm used to it now but would certainly make f&h days easier if he would eat the same as me. He'd end up wasting money by ordering a takeaway because he "didn't like" what I'd made Angry Angry Angry Angry
