I'm trying to lose some weight.

I eat too much bread and fill up during the morning on bisuits or toast.

I definitely eat too little protein in my diet as a whole and never have protein at breakfast and think that is why I end up snacking too much. I'm not a vegetarian but I don't eat much meat.

I don't eat eggs which makes it difficult to think of things.

Any suggestions?

apple slices with peanut butter / cashew butter spread on
or toast with the above on, or low fat cream cheese
yogurt or cereal with nuts or seeds, plus try different milks eg nut milk, soya milk
bowl of mixed fruit with nuts and seeds sprinkled on

there is actually plenty of protein in all foods except fruit and some veg! but the above will give you a protein boost

Thanks. Never thought of peanut butter.

Can you get bags of nuts/seeds to go in youghurt etc?

My normal breakfast is tea and toast and while I love it, it doesn't seem to keep me going for long.

Protein shake? Holland and Barret Vanilla body fortress makes a fantastic vanilla latte.

Berries are low fat so you could have them with some yoghurt poured on top, then some seeds too. I know what you mean though, the whole breakfast thing drives me nuts. I don't like cereal, toast is good, but doesn't sustain me for long and makes me put on weight. Do you not like the taste of eggs? I don't like runny egg I have to admit so I scramble mine with some cheese in it or poach them until they are hard boiled!

I make a smoothie which has about 20g of protein in it. I find it really filling. I use:

100g frozen berries
1/2 banana
100g low fat natural fromage frais (higher in protein than yogurt)
150ml skimmed milk
25g oats
15g ground flaxseed

I whizz it up in the blender, whilst the berries are still frozen and it's like having ice cream for breakfast

mushrooms are good breakfast food, I had a peppered quorn steak and salad for breakfast the other day - odd I grant you, but quite yummy

Scramble egg and grilled bacon is a good source of protein and fills me up until lunch!!!
