WW and breastfeeding

I've started WW and am currently exclusively b/f, so as a result have a lot of extra points. It seems a lot more than I would normally eat and I don't want to make up the points by snacking on rubbish as that would be counter productive.

Has anyone successfully lost weight with the extra b/f points? How did you tend to make up the points (larger portions etc) and roughly what did you lose per week on average?

I just need to get my head around the fact that it will work, it just seems counter- intuitive at the moment!

Yes but you lose weight a LOT slower than the usual 2lb a week, but IMO cutting some of the bf points won't do any harm after the first 8 weeks - I think WW is based on the assumption that if you are bf then you must have a really young baby but in reality you could be exclusively bf a 5 mo old and your body will have adjusted to that. That said, I am too lazy to cut the extra bf points but I don't mind slow weight loss!

Sory, in answer to your specific questions, I eat bagels for snacks and lose about 3/4 lb a week.

Hi

My babies 5 months old now (exclusively breastfed) and i started weightwatchers diet 4 weeks ago. I've lost 13 lbs so far but have been doing lots of extra walking to try and boost it.

Feels wierd having to eat so much but it has worked for me.

I'm now unsure how many points i can have as i'm now weaning my little one onto solids. Does anyone know if there is any way of working it out? I've been adding 10 points for exclusive breastfeeding up to now.

Thanks

I've got a 5 month old who is exclusively breastfed and started WW on Monday. I've been given 29 points a day and like you said, it seems like too many as only once this week have I used them all! Seems daft to eat more to make up points when I'm not hungry so I haven't been.

Was talking to my friend about it today and we agreed that if I felt full then there really was no real need to use the extra points just because they were there - my body would tell me if it needed more by making me hungry.

It's looking likely that I'll get about a 2lb weight loss this week (got until monday to go) and DD started weaning on Monday too so I'm considering changing my breastfeeding status from exclusive to weaning as that will reduce the points I'm allowed as she gets more from her food.

Hi. I'm doing WW too and am breastfeeding (alongside solids as my baby's now 9months so get 5 extra points rather than the 10 for exclusive bf).

I've lost 11 and a half pounds in 4 weeks.

I too find it difficult to use up my points (not helped by the fact that I get a large allowance to start with because of my excess weight) but find that I snack on bananas, malt loaf, crudites and houmous etc.

It's also surprising how easy it can be some days to use up extra points by going to costa or nero and having hot chocolate and a biscuit

Good luck!

Hi,

I am doing WW and EBF. I have 31 points but I am averaging between 23 - 26 a day. Lost 5 and a half the first week and put on a pound the second (although I had wine and a chinese takeaway the night before weigh in).

I find that I would be overeating to eat the whole 31 points so I am just being sensible and hoping that it works. Weigh in on sat. morning.
