What are Zumba classes? Just noticed it on the leaflet from the leisure centre but no explanation of what it is.

Found the ZUmba website but even that doesn't really tell you what it actually consists of, would hate to go to one and find it's way beyond me physically

This is what she said Zumba is aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.

Hope this helps girlies... I have signed up for one tomorrow!!! Wish me luck and I'll let you know how I get on!

Hi All, Just recently started Zumba at my local Community Centre in Whittington Park, (Yerbury Road) N19 4RS - Wednesday 5-6pm and I love it so much that I wonder why I have not done this before. It is just like having a party and a boogy, I smiled the whole way through, that was when I wasn't laughing at myself trying to co-ordinate my arms and legs to do different things LOL :-) I was always put off going to Zumba after seeing so many "professionals" doing it, tiny little bodies writhing away in complete rythm to the music, but it is not like that. The class I go to is taught by a lovely lady of a larger size and the people that go are of varying shapes, sizes and ages and we have such a laugh. All the teacher asks is that you just keep moving, even if you don't get the moves, as long as you are moving you are working out.
I would highly recommend it, it is the only exercise class that i have done that I loved so much that it passes really quickly and at the end you really feel like you have worked out, but you have had so much fun doing so.

It's basically a dance class but the music is ace, largely Latin.

Our instructor shows you the four or five moves you'll be doing during each track, sticks on the track and then we just get on with it, watching and following her at the front. It doesn't matter if you're shit or bloody amazing, just dance and have fun. If you're very fit, you can really push yourself but if not, just move with the music in the general that everyone else is going in and you'll be grand.

I hate exercise classes and I've not used a gym since I was 17. I fucking LOVE Zumba.
