on the fron it says net carbs 2g. on the back it says carbs 16g..which value do I use?

Check out the fibre content. I have only recently looked at the low-carb diets (and may have it entirely wrong!) but I think fibre cancels out carbs. So if there is 14grams of fibre, this cancels out 14grams of carbohydrates, leaving 2grams carb which is the value you use.
