How often shall I weigh myself?

I'm hoping to lose around a stone in weight in 2010. Possibly more but my initial goal is a stone.

I'm wondering how often I should weigh myself?

Every Sunday morning?

On the 1st of every month (so just once a month)?

How often?

FWIW when I have had personal trainer and been trying to get fit and lose weight (stopped now, pg again) he reckoned once a fortnight was best and then we measure weight and fat %, the latter of which is actually more important but I guess it depends on how much motivation you think it will give you, ie if you are likely to eat loads in first week and then put yourself through diet hell in the second then maybe once a week would be better! I don't think more often than once a week is a good idea though, can get obsessive and weight will fluctuate slightly every day anyway, regardless of whether you are dieting, giving you a false impression.

Good luck

I think weighing in once a week is good. It kept me focussed on my eating plan and I gave myself a reward if I had lost weight. I have scales at home but I go to Boots every Friday and weigh myself there in the same clothes and at the same time and even if a jump on the scales at home it is the Boots one that counts. I keep all the slips to keep myself motivated too. I'm now maintaining my weight but i still go to Boots to keep on the dtraight and narrow. I say whatever works for you - just does be jumping on twice a day!
