Right - what diet is best?

I lost around two stones on the Cambridge diet. I've come off that and put on about half a stone.

I want to lose around three stone but I just feel totally overwhelmed at the moment.

CD worked for me and I am wondering whether to go back on to it. However, it is a quick fix and I can't see how I can maintain the weight loss long term.

I have tried calorie counting in the past but am hopeless at it. I think CD was good for me as I think that low carb agrees with me. I am considering doing India and Neris' diet (low carb basically) and started two weeks ago. I lost four pounds before falling off the wagon. I could restart tomorrow but just feel sick at the thought of more cheese etc.

I am considering the GI diet but wondered if anyone had words of wisdom for me. I am trying not to set too strict goals for myself but I know that if I don't set some type of goal, I will just piss about and kid myself that cheating etc is OK. That was part of the reason that CD was good for me as I couldn't kid myself on that!

I really need to get a grip on this or I'll end up putting all the weight back on and then some. Why is this sooooo hard - with self!

Proper Atkins. it;s like magic!

Bunnysoprano · 08/12/2009 00:11

how magic? Could I lose the weight in 5-6 months? However, presumably, I would need to stay on it for the rest of my life?

I lost 10lb in my first month on Atkins, I reckon you can do 2-3 stone in 5 or 6 months, yes. You do need to be strict though and change your way of eating, but I love it as I am a big cheese fiend (not a big chocolate fan)

Have you tried Go Lower? It is also low carb but you can have proper meals which they deliver to your door. It's really easy to do. I haven't tried CD though so can't compare to that. So far in 9 weeks I have lost 33 lbs.

That is excelent Mummymels - will look in to it!

Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer the best I can.

I have lost 7.5 stones in 24 weeks on Alizonne.

It's expensive but it does work.

mummymels · 09/12/2009 22:09

That's brilliant SmileyMylee. I haven't heard of that diet before. How does it work?

QandA · 09/12/2009 22:36

I started slimming world 5 weeks ago and have lost a stone, it is really very good as you can eat so much, it fits in with family life, no weighing of foods and it is sustainable in the long term. It has made me think about what choices I make.
