Whats the best diet for this? I need to follow a diet because I have low self control at the moment and need to be TOLD what to do
I need to lose more than a stone but its a good place to start.
If anyone wants to join me I would love some support.

I have just finished my 6th week at Weight Watchers and have lost exactly 15.5lb.

Its a great diet that will work, but only if you stick to th epoints plan that you get

shinyshoes · 08/04/2009 11:02

agree with sugarrations. It definately does work, but you MUST point everything. A stone in six weeks is definately not unrealistic on WW

Guadalupe · 08/04/2009 11:05

I had my six week weigh in with WW last night and I have lost 15 and a half pounds and the half was for the last two weeks so it is possible! You do have to stick to the points though.

SingingLark · 08/04/2009 11:05

Well done! You must be thrilled
I would rather avoid the club route if possible. It would cost over £20 a month, I think which I can't be spending at the moment.
I don't mind buying a book or if anyone knows any sites which have a diet for a week or so.

OMG, that is the same as you, suggerations. Are you me?

Guadalupe · 08/04/2009 11:07

I think you have to have a LOT of resolve to do it without going to the meetings. There's something about the week working towards the weigh-in that kept me motivated.

mishymoo · 08/04/2009 11:08

I know Slimming World has a site where you can get a free week menu from. I would imagine WW has it too.

here's the link for SW

It is do-able to lose a stone in 6 weeks but you have to stick to it and exercising every day will also help!

Good luck

SingingLark · 08/04/2009 11:12

Thanks for the link. Just had a look. There's so much food there!

You can eat loads and it does really work! I have lost 19lbs since November (and I haven't been doing it properly every week ) I can only dream of how much I should have lost if I had done it properly

sugarrations · 08/04/2009 11:29

Well done guadalupe

I don't think I could do it without the weekly weigh in. Its a real motivator, having to pay to be told you are/are not a lardy arse each week

Guadalupe · 08/04/2009 11:33

Yes, though we got weighed last night, skipped the meeting and went out for dinner.

Well, they were only going to tell us how to avoid an easter binge anyway!

sugarrations · 08/04/2009 11:54

I go on holiday on Saturday - All Inclusive!!!! Will definately stay this week for my meeting, I need to keep focused!!!

Good luck singinglark whatever you choose

My sister is trying golower.com - the 28 day quick result programme. Supposed to lose a stone or up to 2 dress sizes. They provide all the food, delivered to you so there's nothing to think about. She's been on it a week and lost about 5 pounds already. Her starting point is quite high though so I think the first stone would drop off fairly quickly. She's very happy with it at the moment - the novelty is keeping her going. She was starving for the first 3 days, now doesn't feel hungry at all. It's expensive though. She is doing it in the hope that a quick result will give her a kick start to then lose the rest steadily, following a similar pattern of eating/meals that golower used but doing it herself.

SingingLark · 08/04/2009 13:02

bumping to see if anyone else can advise

Atkins would lose you that in 6 weeks, easy. I lost a stone in about 2.5 weeks but it does go back on when you start to eat carbs again.

SingingLark · 08/04/2009 13:15

I found this
www.feelingok.co.uk/diet03.asp

I think it looks very straightforward and easily doable.

I shall start tomorrow

I am also going back to the gym after a 3 week break (and a gain of 5lbs )

Day 1 today.

I've had a breakfast of toast and scrambled egg and feel very full.
I've got lots of chores today that involve being out a lot so hopefully, that'll stop me eatingal day long! Its always a struggle when you're at home. All those teas and biscuits, toast and cake.

I'm going to start brisk walking/running in the park in the evenings.

You can do Lighter Life Lite - but only if your BMI is between 25 and 30 ( 1 stone - 3 stone in total to lose).

Its a 4 week programme with some meal replacement, some high protein low carb meals, and weekly meetings.

Whilst they can't give you a cast iron gaurentee they aim for 1 stone in 4 weeks.

I've nearing the end of the full Lighter Life programme and I;ve lost 7.5 stone in 8 months.

SingingLark · 09/04/2009 09:09

Wow! Thats one major transformation! You must be so happy with your achievement.

I have a maximum of 2 stone to lose. I would be happy at a stone. I don't think a meal replacement programme is for me as I wouldn't be able to keep it up. Well done to you though!

Just reading this thread as i am also looking for a way out of awful bingeing/compulsive eating weight-gain. I followed the links to Golower and Feeling Ok to see what they were about and hopefully find my quick fix. I see that they both advocate (or at least approve of) low carb, ketogenic diets. I also looked up ketosis on the NHS website at this link: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Ketosis/Pages/Definition.aspx
I thought i should post this bc it really does sound like a bad route to go down and in particular bc it warns against going into ketosis if you are pregnant.

Please don't think i am being holier-than-thou (and pretty please don't flame me): I am a serial-offender having done South Beach loads of times. But i don't think i'll do it again...
