Is there a weight loss programme that includes one on one counselling?

My DH's best friend is very unhappy with his weight. Although he is very active and very fit, he loves eating, does it for comfort and as a habit, and needs to lose about 4 stone (he is very tall, so doesn't look like he needs to lose 4 stone tbh). he recognises he needs to change his relationship with food, so that when he loses weight, he will keep it off.
He looked at Lighter Life, but that seemed to be group counselling. Is there one which is more private - he can't bear the thought of sharing his food isues with a group. Could he get CBT maybe through his GP?
I said I would ask here before he goes to his GP, as MN is such a font of knowledge!
Ta for any advice.

Cambridge diet. You meet with your counsellor one on one adn talk thru your progress for ther week.
REally good, I went on it after DS1, lost 3 stone, became a counsellor, just had DS2 and now on a re-start to drop a few pounds and get back to what i was before.
The only diet that has ever worked for me.
