Evesmama I recently joined SW (don't go to the classes anymore) and I am shocked by how much I can eat. If you don't want to go to the classes again have you looked at the SW magazine, there are lots of good ideas there about what to eat and one or two reminders and updates about the plan.

My DH bought a fitness magazine last week and there was an article in it about eating more and still losing weight and basically the eating habits they spoke about were very similar to SW. They explained that by eating enough (good stuff mind you) you were giving your body the message that food was plentiful and your body would happily shed some of its fat stores but if you were too restrictive with your calorie intake your body would assume there was a famine on and your body would hold onto fat and presumably this is when you crave the fattening stuff too.

i think im gunna have a look on s.w site and maybe buy a mag in morning?, had loads of the old ones, but as ive been told, they've changed now?

Another thought, I don't know how much the diet has changed as this is the first time I have tried SW, but if it has changed drastically it may be worth getting hold of one of the new books from e-Bay, there are loads of people selling them.

I have had days when I seriously cannot fit all the food in, some days I'm sitting at the end of the day with a healthy extra, sometimes two left and some syns. Although obviously the bad days still exist (for me today was one and you don't want to know what rubbish I have consumed).

Evesmama · 12/02/2005 21:55

havent 'really' been doing s.w to the letter, just using it as a guide, but it seems i need to follow something as i thought i was eating enough but seems not?
would the old s.w 'plan' not work any more?if i was to try to follow it more closely?

I'm no expert by any means but I would imagine the old plan would work (some of the others in my aerobics class have had success following the old plan, one of them has the book and is lending it to everyone), just wonder if the new plan is less restrictive. From my small experience of going to the classes some new members joined who had been to SW a while ago and I heard the consultant explaining to them that they couldn't have Heinz macaroni or corned beef anymore, they seemed quite disappointed but for me these things don't appeal and it made me wonder if they have replaced these things with things I find more appealing IYKWIM.

If you get the chance have a look at the new book and see if it has changed a great deal. Is there a lot of free food to choose from in the old plan?

Evesmama · 12/02/2005 22:06

as i recall yes..
most pasta in sauces were free or very low(carbonara ones)
meat free ravioli
some tinned spag bols
and really i only stuck to green days..jacket spuds, beans, cheese and made lots of my own pastas using healthy extras like chicken or prawns and made s.w quiches and s.w chips with mushy peas and bowyers sausages

OP posts:
Demented · 12/02/2005 22:28

Not all the Pasta & Sauces are free now. You are allowed two B choices, don't know if that's new or not. The Bowyers sausages would be a syn, 1 syn on a red day and I'm not sure about a green day (don't have my book handy just now), has that changed?

Although I agree with you if the old plan worked back then, I don't see why it shouldn't work now unless the recipes of some of the free foods have changed drastically.

Evesmama · 12/02/2005 22:30

well ive got loads of spuds and p.i.s in so am gonna give them a go tomorow and as we're going into town, will get a luverly jacket spud from stand in town whilst there
