Any ideas for low-carb breakfasts?

Have been very lazy in my weight-loss quest, and am now doing Atkins for a quick fix.

I had to grill some sausages this morning for breakfast, and then eat them on the way to work after I had dropped dd off at nursery, and well, vom.

Can anyone suggest any low-carb breakfasts? Quick and easy? I have the India Knight book somewhere...

YES! I usually have frozen blueberries from Tesco, quickly defrost in microwave and have with dollp of full fat greek yoghurt (Total).
Or strawberries. Or raspberries/rhubarb/blackberries. Berries are low carb.
This is not for induction but fine afterwards.

Pinkjenny · 24/06/2008 15:46

So in induction can I only have meat or eggs or something for breakfast. Feel a bit dizzy too.

PJ, this is me too!

don't think there is an induction breakfast that you can have on the go really? although perhaps some ham or cheese would be easier on the stomach than cold sausages?

I have eggs and bacon normally - just mix them in a bowl and microwave for a minute or two so pretty quick. (add mushrooms/cheese/ham instead of bacon maybe?)

also - not sure about sausages as lot of them have added rusk etc?

They made me feel so ill. I might scramble some eggs in the microwave.

I miss Cheerios!

i had the microwaved eggs again - fine but can really taste them still. bleurgh.

might go in seacrh of diet coke.....

Pinkjenny · 25/06/2008 11:32

I had a bagel.

oh - i could sooooo eat a bagel right now.... have been feeling queasy since about midday (eased slightly by lunch...) - am hoping this is ketosis and will pass otherwise i'm in trouble.....

are you giving up pinkjenny or is it a blip?

BecauseImWorthIt · 25/06/2008 13:58

Try not to view breakfast as a special kind of meal - I often eat something left over from dinner the night before if I can't face 'breakfast' foods.

Today I had a giant mushroom filled with bacon (two chopped rashers), hot pepper sauce and cheese, whacked under the grill. Lovely!

Otherwise, I sometimes do the berry/yoghurt thing, and I also add a splash of vanilla extract.

Pinkjenny · 25/06/2008 14:02

Its a blip...

The problem I've got BecauseImWorthIt is the fact that a) I have a 13mo and can't start faffing about cooking things in the morning and b) there is no way in the world I could eat that mushroom thing for breakfast.

slice of ham, wrapped around some (full fat) Philadelphia?

same, but with smoked salmon?

hard boiled egg?

Pinkjenny · 25/06/2008 14:07

Oh, I don't know, maybe this is the wrong diet for me. I need a quick fix for my hols, but am guessing bagels aren't the way to do it!

It's also not a quick fix diet, pinkjenny - you'll put on several pounds once you revert to eating high carbs again anyway!

Don't know if there's a bagel diet though ...

Pinkjenny · 25/06/2008 14:18

Ha ha, I wish there was!!!!! Its funny though, I've done it before and never regained the weight.

OP posts:
gladders · 25/06/2008 14:30

think if you get past the first few days, then you do genuinely lose weight - and that will stay after you finish the diet. you normalle regain a few pounds which is the water you lose initially?

i have done this as quick fix before and that#s what i'm doing now - couldn't face low carb forever.....

oggsfrog · 25/06/2008 14:32

Celery sticks filled with paté
Boiled/poached eggs
Ham/cheese omelette
Smoked mackerel
Cold meats and cheese

gladders · 25/06/2008 14:45

not sure i could cope with pate for breakfast?

oggsfrog · 25/06/2008 14:58

How about a decaff coffee with double cream just to get something in your stomach and a boiled egg which can be eaten cold later in morning?

joslimmer · 26/11/2010 19:35

I'm on celeb slim so have a replacement meal bar every morning. But reckon a cereal bar of some sort would be a good option for an easy and plain breakfast.

ivykaty44 · 28/11/2010 11:38

can you have fish? Kippers with mushrooms

or poached eggs with mushrooms
