I’m obese, though I don’t think I look it and not entirely sure I’m fully on board with BMI being the only marker of health. Anyway…
I’ve always been of ‘solid’ build and am reasonably muscular and strong. I will never be ‘skinny’ nor do I want to but I probably ought to lose some weight because I’m concerned about my long term health. I comfort eat. Not great at self care, overachieve and generally don’t know how to chill out.

I use to be a fad diet queen but since having kids, I’ve done a lot of work on my mental health and try not to get bogged down with being fat. I’m all for positive body image around my kids, I get that swimming costume on at the pool, I don’t mention diet talk around them and eat the bloody cake at the café with them.
thing is, I’m now quite ‘anti-money making diet that overcomplicates food’ but also I do actually want to shift a few stone for health reasons. I’ve tried calorie counting but if I’m honest, I find it exhausting because I make everything (including bread) from scratch. Who the hell has time to input all ingredients all the time? Not me 😅 I need something cheap, preferably online (not a fan of sitting in a circle or public weigh ins), that mean I can eat food without over complicating, obsessing or being hungry.
please hit me up with suggestions ❤️

You sound like an ideal candidate for weight loss injections.

By the way, just because you have a broad/big build, it doesn't follow that you cant be thin.

Not something I would consider. I don’t think I’d be eligible on the NHS and I don’t like the sound of the side effects. I’m all for choices and it helping others but I’m very much someone who actively avoids medication unless required.

You’ll lose weight by cutting calories but if you don’t want to do that and eat without restriction I can only think of cutting carbs. I don’t like doing this myself so I prefer to track calories but you’ll be eating fewer calories overall. Maybe. If you choose the right foods.

Keto? I lost 5.5 stone on that.

I use a calorie counting app and add my own recipes you only do it once.
I have the main meals I eat on repeat inputted it saves lots of time.
I lost 5 stone 3 years ago doing this and have kept it off by continuing to log and it literally takes a few minutes a day.
You have to find what fits into your lifestyle because then you'll find it easier to stick to and maintain long-term. For me it was calorie counting.

No calorie counting.

I changed my breakfast, cut out snacks, more protein and veg, no pasta or potatoes.

But I still felt full.

I agree with this I do the same. I eat the same sandwich a few times a week (for example) and make it the same way every time so I input it once and then it’s very easy to add it to the diary. Yes it’s easier to not track everything I eat but tracking is easier than putting the weight I lost back on. So I choose what is easier for me. It was hard work losing the weight (7 stone) so a bit of tracking isn’t going to kill me
