Why am I gaining so much weight?

I've always hovered around the 9 stone 10 mark without much effort. I weigh myself every week and every week I've been putting 2lb on.

I haven't changed my diet and I've now reached 10lb 6!!!

It's really getting me down. I've suffered from disordered eating in the past and really don't want to go down that hole again. Is this just a rude awakening to my thirties or is there anything I can do?

any chance you could be pregnant?
drinking more alcohol?
portion sizes creeping up?
don't think you've changed your diet but have actually been out for dinner more, had a couple more takeaways, cake at work etc?
doing less exercise than before?

Stress and lack of sleep can raise cortisol levels which can lead to fat storage. Hormones? perimenopause? Insulin resistance? Diabetes in family? Pcos? Underactive thyroid? Less active? Ageing and a slower metabolism? Could be a number of things.

Perimenopause? This happened to me. I put on a stone in two or three pound chunks over a few months, despite not changing diet to activity levels. I had had a bmi of 21-22 all my adult life until this suddenly hit me. It has all gone on around my middle too😡

Just spotted you are only in your thirties so peri would be unlikely.

It could be as some start it a lot earlier than others.

I would ask doc for a thyroid test.
