Anyone starting IF 16:8 ?

I’m 8 weeks of no added sugar and I’m proud of myself
no cakes, chocolate, sweet treats etc
however the scales have not budged yet so I’m going to add in intermittent fasting 16:8
does anyone have any experience?
or is anyone starting that wants to keep each other going?
I plan to do 10am-6pm but will change the window if I had a meal out or something that would be later on.
got about 1 stone to budge- would love to loose this by end of August- 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Ps going to do mostly low card but I will add in carbs here and there to make it more enjoyable- some seeded break, some seeds and grains in my yogurt etc otherwise it’s doom and gloom!
also was a Coke Zero addict (4 cans per day)
reduced that to the odd one every few days too

is a stone doable in 10 weeks do you think?

I do 16:8 full time now. I did 3/4 weeks of low carb on it and lost a couple of kilos.

I recommend protein shakes / yoghurts and watermelon to keep you feeling full. Good luck. I think your plan sounds achievable.

vincettenoir · 17/06/2025 08:48

Also going to bed early helps. Especially if you are closing your fast at 6.

SummerIsComingNowish · 17/06/2025 09:29

I’m usually in bed for 10
im prepared for a bit of hunger in the evenings that I’ll have to deal with.
do you get more used to not eating in your fasting time? Do the hunger pangs get less ?

To lose weight you do need to calculate calories in, an app like myfitnesspal will also give you a goal and will help you track the food. Cutting out sugar and carbs will obviously make a big difference to health but you could still be eating more calories than burning with other food so won't lose weight.
I lose consistently with high protein, low carb and drinking more water but I'm strict with my calories around 1200-1400 a day.

vincettenoir · 17/06/2025 10:03

Yeah, I got pretty used to it in 3 days. Black coffee really helps in the mornings.

StupidTrolleyThing · 17/06/2025 21:40

Is hot water with lemon in allowed during the fasting hours?

SummerIsComingNowish · 18/06/2025 07:22

@StupidTrolleyThing i think that’s fine, im also having black coffee through the morning and a tea with a dash of milk in the evening.

I’m not sure if this is a coincidence but after fasting from 6pm last night- this morning my alarm went off and I was awake and got straight up- usually press snooze for 45 minutes and then have to drag myself up

Thank you (sorry to hijack!) So a splash of milk in my tea doesn't count, I'd still be 'fasting'?

Koinophobia · 18/06/2025 08:45

I do IF every day - well, a version of. I don't eat before lunch or after dinner. ATM my evening meals are happening too late due to various reasons beyond my control, which is reducing my fasting window, but it's usually around 9pm to 12ish the next day. I find not eating in the mornings is very easy. I do have tea with a splash of milk so not 100 percent clean fasting.

I am not losing weight on this regime but I am also not gaining! I am sure if I was more careful on what I eat during my food window I could adapt it to a weight loss diet.

Yes i have anyway. All it means for me is I don't have breakfast instead i have brunch about 11.30 to 12. Sometimes if I am busy I have it even later and usually I feel fine.
I do have coffee with milk though so not compete fast.
I remembered when I was much younger I never ate breakfast anyway as I'm not a morning person and I was a lot slimmer.
I have also been very careful about what I eat and the weight is coming off but quite slowly at an average of 1 pound a week

SummerIsComingNowish · 19/06/2025 07:45

It’s taken me a few days to get into this- the first day I was so starving at 9pm I had to have a small snack
the next day I had to eat 20 mins before my windows as again I was so starving!
working my way up to the 8 hour window by next week

StupidTrolleyThing · 19/06/2025 09:43

I find not eating until mid morning no problem, and I cant eat.much after 6pm anyway, otherwise I get awful indigestion in bed. I'm usually in bed by 9pm!

SummerIsComingNowish · 19/06/2025 10:39

After saying that I’m totally fine today so far- black coffee and water all morning and I will try and hold off till 12 - I’m chalking the previous days down to hormones as period is due

I have started the 16:8 as I have 22lbs I want to use. My issue is when I calorie count I start to feel light headed. I may need to start on a 12:12 and bring it down to 16:8 as after not eating since 6pm, I am already feeling rough by 9am. Anyone else found that?

SummerIsComingNowish · 23/06/2025 19:27

I find having low carb dinner is good for feeling better the next morning
I’m a week in now. I’m down 3lbs but that could also be period bloat that I’ve lost too

Raindancer411 · 25/06/2025 11:19

@SummerIsComingNowishWhat kind of low carb dinners do you suggest? I am finding it hard to cut the carbs as it’s in everything

SummerIsComingNowish · 25/06/2025 17:50

it’s low carb definitely not no carb-
4 boiled eggs and butter & veg/salad
chicken breasts with pesto & veg/salad
Burgers no bun and onion rings and salad
goats cheese salad
Caesar salad
also sweet potato as an alternative
Homemade veg soup and crackers

a few examples of my go to dinners

Hi there, I’m thinking of trying IF - Did you manage to lose the stone and would you recommend IF?

Doyouthinktheyknow · 12/10/2025 21:01

I do it full time too, have done since the end of January and I am not far off 4 stone down. Not trying to lose anymore but struggling with maintenance, scales still creeping down.

I have completely overhauled my diet too and joined a gym but 16:8 has made it relatively easy to lose weight and I plan to continue doing it long term. I never ate a healthy breakfast anyway, it was usually a couple of biscuits!

I do tend to be repetitive with my lunches: couscous with roasted vegetables and a protein, normally sardines, tuna or chicken and fruit and protein yogurt, then I eat with DH in the evening but it is normally healthy. I don’t snack aside from an occasional satsuma.
