Thinking about asking gp about weight loss jabs. I'm type 2 diabetic, about 5'10/11" and weigh over 12 stone. Will I be eligible for these as I have tried losing weight naturally and have been on prescription slimming pills but when I have stopped dieting etc I put the weight back on.

Yes, if your BMI is over 30 which I think it is. Some of the online pharmacies might exclude you because of the T2 diabetes, but there are some that will take you on as there are definitely people that post here with T2 that have been prescribed it.

Have you ever been to or near weight management? As you say about slimming tablets on prescription before in the past.

Have they (diabetic team) expressed concern for your weight?

It is also a postcode lottery from what I make of it all. And high waiting list times if you are approved by process. Again subject to postcode lottery again possibly.

Try by all means.

My relative who is more severe diabetes alongside couple other conditions - glucose readings in the 18/20’s was able to get hold of MJ on hospital prescription but when more recently asked our GP for Ozempic at the hospitals diabetic nurse next suggestion but has been refused for now as they are struggling with constipation at the moment.

You can ask.

From my understanding and my lovely GP, I would have to have been referred to a weight management program first and be diabetic.

Weighed myself earlier as I hadn't checked my weight for a few months and am 11st 9lb so about the same as I was in November when I last checked

No it's 32/33 so she would get it.

I asked my GP practice. Clearly a no from them, said not on NHS. I said I was 4ft 11 with high blood pressure at least 2-3 stone overweight etc etc. And I would consider getting it on line. Still deciding whether to or not.
