Holiday weight loss

Glenthebattleostrich · 16/03/2025 08:35

Anyone fancy a lose a bit of weight before summer holidays thread? We fly in 124 days and I want to look better in my summer clothes.

Lost 2 stone last year (from 15 1/2 to 13 1/2) then put half a stone back on.

Ideally I'd like to go from 195lb (just shy of 14 stone) to 12 1/2) so 18lb in 4 months. Feels quite doable with watching what i eat and a bit of exercise.

My plan is to cut down on crap carbs, so bread, pasta and white rice are gone and focus on whole foods and protein. Up my walking to 3 miles per day (over 2 walks) and strength training.

I'm perimenipausal and have just started a new job I'm not 100% sold on but seeing how it goes for a few months. My biggest thing is stopping for snacks on the way home, a cheeky greggs or some crisps and chocolate. That is stopping. Also only drinking if I'm out. It's crap for sleep and bloats me so the wine fund is going towards the holiday clothes.

Be lovely to have some company but otherwise will be using this as a diary. I'll post weight daily and measurements weekly.

Oo yes please. I am in a similar boat. Lost nearly 4 stone last year (started at 15 st 9lbs down to 11st 12lbs ish). Back up to 12st 7lbs and trying to get myself back on track. I am off to France in the summer and would love to go feeling more confident again.

Should ideally be 10st but mostly focussing on losing weight to feel healthier and more confident.

Hello @Indierocknroller

How has your week gone?

Mine has been pretty good. Lost 3lb this week, even with 2 evenings out and fish and chips at the sea side. Feeling really good and in control.

I'm going for a walk with a friend this morning, really looking forward to that. We are doing one of my favorite 5 milers. Then back to doing cleaning and ironing so a busy day!!

I'm going to menu plan this week and do a big shop both Wednesday (supermarket) and Saturday (costco and farm shop) so I have loads of bits for healthy meals in the freezer and lots of slow cooker things for days I know will be late / busy.

116 days until I fly, 31lb to go!

I've cut out snacking for Lent and have lost weight without trying. All my clothes are looser. I'm just sticking to three healthy meals a day.

Indierocknroller · 23/03/2025 11:44

Hi 👋 well done on 3lbs, that's amazing! It's been a mixed week for me. I've been really "good" - no overeating, stuck to healthy options and upping my exercise. However, the scales have not moved 🙈 I don't know what's going on with my body. Hoping I might have a bit of a whoosh at some point soon! Last week was very stressful so not sure if that's had an impact. Hey ho, must keep going 💪

Glenthebattleostrich · 23/03/2025 15:10

Do you take measurements? Sometimes my weight doesn't change but my clothes are looser.

Indierocknroller · 23/03/2025 19:48

I haven't taken measurements but that's a good idea thank you. I definitely feel less bloated which is a good start. Fingers crossed it starts coming off one way or another x

Glenthebattleostrich · 24/03/2025 13:36

It will, I went up a lb this morning because I didn't drink enough yesterday and walked loads (got lost and my 3 mile hike turned into a 7 milers!!!)

Upped the water today so hopefully have a whoosh this week!

Wow, 7 miles! I'm sure that will make a difference in a positive way once your body has sorted itself out (water wise).

I've booked in for a body scan and nutrition appointment tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what the results show/what advice they give.

Peae · 24/03/2025 21:08

Could I ask where your getting your scan done and what kind of scan? (Round here we are plagued with the Herbalife scammers, but I’d love to find something like am affordable DEXA scan).

Indierocknroller · 25/03/2025 08:06

It's a local independent health and nutrition club who offer a free wellness evaluation and body scan. I'm not 100% sure on the type of scan but it say they measure body fat, viseral fat, muscle mass, body water, metabolic age and bone mass. I have seen them advertising and thought it was worth giving it a go, even if I don't return after today. I'm sure, they be trying to up-sell a load of additional products/programmes but I going in with open eyes.

Peae · 25/03/2025 09:14

Sounds interesting! Will you let us know how it goes? And how long it takes? And what their programme/approach is? Sorry lots of questions.

Indierocknroller · 25/03/2025 11:11

@Peaeupdate...you've saved me. I had a closer look at her page and in tiny writing on ONE client picture it mentions herbal life. I've cancelled because it's not the route I want to go down. Shame, because I would quite like to have a scan and some proper advice. May have a look at alternatives.

Peae · 25/03/2025 11:48

I was pretty sure it sounded like Herbalife ☹️. Lots of UPF bars and shakes, daily check-ins etc. Not at all convinced it leads to any kind of long term health ☹️.

Indierocknroller · 25/03/2025 12:12

It was very well hidden, almost as if she knew it would put people off 🤔. As soon as I saw it was herbalife I cancelled, I'm just not interested in that route. I'm sure it works for some people but I want to make sustainable changes, nor rely on expensive products. Oh well. Thank you for the heads up 😊

Indierocknroller · 26/03/2025 06:43

So I have decided to make Wednesday my official weigh in day and finally I've had a bit of a drop. Only 1.5lbs but so glad to see a change.
SW: 12st 7lb
CW:12st 5.5lbs

Glenthebattleostrich · 30/03/2025 17:06

Well done dodging the herbalife crazy!! A friend of mine keeps trying to sell me shakes but I've no intention of going for quick fixes.

Still staying the same but definitely losing inches from the waist as wearing smaller trousers. Must find a tape measure to do my measurements.

OP posts:
Indierocknroller · 30/03/2025 19:32

Yeah, I keep meaning to do my measurements too. I've had a bit of an indulgent weekend as celebrated my friend's 40th yesterday with a cream tea and had a mother's day BBQ today. Tried my best to not massively overeat but we will see what the scales say on Wednesday. Other than that have managed to stick to plan.

Indierocknroller · 02/04/2025 07:43

Wednesday weigh in and I've lost 2lbs this week 😊 12st 3.5lbs this morning 👍

kalokagathos · 02/04/2025 12:25

I stopped all the beige food, potatoes and rice, meat pretty much too but not fish and am at my target weight from 20 years ago!. 44 yo

Indierocknroller · 02/04/2025 12:49

Amazing, well done @kalokagathos
