Feeling like a walking cliche

I'm 41, and in the last 18 months or so I seem to have put on 2 stone from nowhere! About 10 lbs of that only in about the last 5 months.

All my adult life I've floated around the 11 stone mark. I'm tall, and a pear shape so it suited me quite well. I lost the weight quite easily and without much effort after pregnancy in my mid-late 30s. But now, it just seems to be creeping up every day.

My DD told me I had a wobbly tummy this morning, then I weighed myself to find I've put on yet another lb since only yesterday, despite I think eating quite normally.

I just feel like such a cliche that I've turned 40 and the weight is piling on, and it will be impossible to lose. My mum says the same happened to her.

I really don't know where to start! Help!

I'm also experiencing quite a lot of other peri symptoms, leaving me feeling knackered and very despondent. Please help me feel a bit better about myself!

Thank you

Perimenopause is when you're oestrogen starts dropping. One of the ways our body responds is by laying down fat stores as body fat produces a chemical similar to oestrogen but weaker.
Go see your GP and ask for blood tests.
Crank up your vitamins - especially D and iron. Eat less calories but more protein.
Cut down sugar and alcohol and try and get more sleep!
