I am 53 and over weight I used to be x size 10. Now over the last 4/5 years I have crept up to a size 16.
I have tried to cut the bad food out. I have tried exercise but I have asthma and a bad back so that has limited me a bit.
I get disheartened and go back to eating chocolate again bit loads but nibbles.
I hate the way my body looks.
I know it is eat healthy and exercise I have tried and I don't get any real change

Hey, I feel your pain. No judgement from me it’s very difficult to find something that works but is realistic.
I have found that cutting out refined sugar is pretty good. I can’t restrict calories et cetera in the usual sense as it triggers some disordered thinking and then eating, but just cutting out refined sugar I had loads more energy and lost some weight as well which was unexpected actually.

I eat as much as I want I want everything else! I also don’t drink alcohol.
of things that did work a bit for me, but I have failed to maintain is weights classes, kettlebell classes, et cetera.
I am a similar age to you and a size smaller but like you are used to be a size 10 until I was 48. It is a shocking difference but you could well still be very beautiful :) don’t forget that. We are more than just walking adverts for a size 10 after all. Our bodies are here for us to experience the world through not just to be judged.

I hear you. I guess at 16s we're not exactly waddling about but it feels heavy when you've been slimmer and I do worry if I'm just going to get bigger and bigger as I get older and older...

@Carol52 you sound very like me (except for the asthma)! What worked for me was:

Clear out your cupboards of any junk
Menu plan and grocery list
Fast800 or Mediterranean diet
Food diary or track with an app

I lost 3 stone in 5 months. No exercise. Lots of veg (steamed greens every day plus roasted veg). Every week I roast a chicken, smoked haddock, wild salmon, (tinned fish is cheap and nutritious if you can’t afford fresh), eggs, lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans, courgettes, mushrooms, cauliflower, leeks, onions, garlic, herbs and spices, roasted tomatoes, steamed spinach, broccoli, kale, Brussel sprouts, purple spouting. I also eat potatoes now I am maintaining.

It can be done but you can’t be half hearted. I feel fantastic age 58 and have recently done C25K as my back finally healed. I am 5ft 6 and weigh exactly 9 stone. Try to frame it as something good you are doing for yourself and not as a horrible task.

I wholeheartedly agree with this, in also all or nothing, and finally following this, I feel better, and the weight is improving
