Half a stone in three weeks?

I need encouragement - big event in just under three weeks (1 February) and I’ve managed to put on half a stone over Christmas.

I tried on all potential outfits last night, and they all look dreadful (bulging tummy or straining across the boobs and back etc)

I’m determined not to buy anything new but to ruthlessly go very low calorie for three weeks….eek! Big talk, I need to make myself stick to it.

700 calories a day max should get off at least 2 pounds a week, shouldn’t it??

700 cals a day is ridiculous.

Set a realistic goal. If you do that you'll probably lose it all in the first week as water weight and regain it after the event.

Do it properly

What height are you, OP? How much a calorie deficit would it be if you only ate 700 caloreis?

Perhaps look into doing fast 800 although I’m not sure if that suitable for someone with just half a stone to lose.

Lightswitchup · 14/01/2025 07:34

Not going to encourage you to basically starve yourself for an extended period OP. Set a more realistic goal and you might lose a couple of pounds a week anyway.

Fast 800 Keto should shift half a stone in 3 weeks easily.

700 calories sounds miserable and insane to me.

Also, just because you are 7lbs heavier than you were before Christmas doesn’t mean you need to lose 7lbs in 3 weeks to look better in your clothes. If you ended up only losing 5lbs say, you’d almost certainly look better - if you’d only gained 2lb over Christmas I doubt you’d even be noticing that in the fit of your clothes.

I’d honestly just focus on cutting out empty calories for the next 3 weeks (snacks, alcohol, second helpings, sugar) and up your exercise rather than adopting such extreme measures.

Thanks all, and totally accept it is unwise and not fun, but I'm pretty sure i can stick to it (maybe 800 calories as suggested) for a short temp period.

Doubt I'll put it back on afterwards, I generally have a very healthy diet and maintain my weight easily, if i can just get back down to it!

But the point is, in 4 weeks you're unlikely to lose 7lbs of actual fat. You'll lose water weight. Not fat.

Yeah, it's not great is it.

9GreenBottles · 14/01/2025 11:07

You might do better upping your exercise to focus on toning up and eating less - but not starving yourself. It also depends on your current weight to determine how achievable it is.

You could Fast 800- it's keto, low calorie and intermittent fasting rolled into one.
Personally, I'd just buy myself something new that fits. But that's why i'm size 16.
