Hey

Desperate to lose weight (1.5st overweight). Has anyone got experience of Black Huel? I'm debating starting 2 x 2scoop huel from tomorrow then have a healthy well balanced evening meal. The two huels should add up to 800 calories and serious protein which I'm hoping will keep me full up- thoughts?

I have never heard of it. So you will be eating mostly powder now instead of food, is that the plan?

Neilsfavouritechilli · 12/01/2025 22:11

Save yourself the money and do porridge for breakfast and.lunch. It's not a lot of fun but you'll get the same results and save money.

Op huel is great. It’s not just like a powdered food - it’s pea protein and nutritionally complete. A lot of vegans I know have it for example. It’s also not specifically for weight loss so far better than the other crap shakes out there

Perhaps start slow and have one huel a day for a meal - as two might be a bit much if you’re not used to it?

Purition is a good one.

I think Huel has artifical sweetners in it doesnt it?

Neilsfavouritechilli · 12/01/2025 22:16

I'm not getting the 400 cal drink vs a couple of poached eggs on toast.

Treacletoots · 12/01/2025 22:17

Its really good OP, but perhaps start with one a day. It can be a bit of a change for your digestive system.

Dh and I have this most lunch times and it is great, fills you up, is nutritionally excellent and quick and easy.

I wouldn't however recommend the greens, unless you're a complete sadist. They may be brilliant for you but I can't stomach them.

The shakes however, taste great.

soupfiend · 12/01/2025 22:31

I see the Huel black has stevia in it, so they claim its not got artificial sweetners in it.

I haven't tried the shakes but I have swapped my cola addiction for the huel fizzy drink. I really like it.
I know someone whose done the huel shakes and she looks great

Onthego25 · 13/01/2025 12:14

I'm a fan of the ready mixed shakes, for occasional use too. The chocolate one is especially delicious, basically like a milkshake. It's too high in carbs, and too like a milkshake, for me to use frequently, but it's great for when you know you won't have access to your preferred food.

the greens are revolting though!

Update. Took advice from above and past two days just had one huel for breakfast. Already feel slimmer and more energised! Drinking it slowly in morning and it really is keeping me full up until lunch. No snacking. Must be the 40g of protein?! Need to keep it up. Thanks everyone.

How are you getting on now OP?
I've just purchased huel black and the super greens. Plan to have one a day to see how I get on. I loved the idea because it is nutritionally complete. How are your energy levels etc?

Loving it! Having the black huel for breakfast- sipping it slowly. I am also now eating a banana too alongside. I make it up night before with water and leave in fridge - much nicer when cold!!!

Then have a huel instant pot for lunch. Fruit in afternoon and then a normal dinner.

Feel much more energised - walking and swimming more. Weighing self again Wednesday. Longer term I can see myself having one huel product a day i.e. breakfast or lunch. X

That's great!

I did buy an instant pot mixed box to try too and thought it might be good for work. Although I am not sure how they will taste!
