Has anyone tried this/can offer any tips as to whether it has worked. I have at least 18kg to lose....

No but I can highly recommend the Zoe podcasts they have several episodes which refer to insulin resistance.

Have you looked at the Human Being Diet? It was featured in the Telegraph a few days ago and I have just bought the HBD cookbook by Petronella Ravenshear. It seems to be helpful for people at the beginning of diabetes (I have been diagnosed with pre diabetes) and is based around the Mediterranean diet.

I’m starting it on Monday so wish me luck! I am determined to lose weight and lower my blood sugars.

look at foods that have a low glycaemic LOaD ( not index). This guide from weight loss resources is great. Eat foods that have a LOAD under 30
