Why not?

Accountability is always good, I have a lot to lose as well, and keeping a food diary helps. Do you have particular times of day that you struggle with? Or activities? I used to sit in the car after doing the food shop and eat loads as the shopping seemed to make me so hungry. It wasn’t real hunger though…

Cormoran · 24/09/2024 04:53

This meal plan will make it very hard for you to lose, especially if you do not count the calories of vegetables and fruits.
All calories add up. Do you really need 3 snacks after such heavy lunch?
Cut the chocolate crisps. the mayo, ...

Orangesandlemons77 · 24/09/2024 05:27

About 1400cals and not had dinner yet? Surely that's not going to help you lose weight, I would have thought that would be more like calories for the whole day. Unless you are exercising a lot.

Mintyt · 24/09/2024 06:39

That's a big lunch to follow a big breakfast, did you not have an evening meal

OP that's three snacks. Were you really hungry?

I can't really tell from the times of your posts but if you skipped dinner then you're probably eating enough to maintain your current weight. If you ate dinner as well then this isn't a diet. It's a sad fact that you have to give your body a chance to burn your excess fat stores, not keep topping up with big meals and 3x snacks as one and giving it an immediate energy source to burn first.

shrumps · 24/09/2024 06:53

That does seem quite a lot to acquire a calorie deficit, have you got much to lose? Agree with previous that the snacks won’t be helping at all.

unsync · 24/09/2024 07:07

You can put all your stats and food into an app and it will track and analyse it for you. You'll get much better feedback and insight that way. I use MyNetDiary.

Puttingupscaffolds · 24/09/2024 07:10

Why not throw in a big mac while you're at it .......take out the snacks , mayo, cheese .

muffledvoice · 24/09/2024 07:33

You're doing well by keeping a food diary but you have to count calories of fruit and veg for example a banana is going to have more calories than a cup of lettuce so it does all add up.

I normally have breakfast (half a bowl of cereal) light lunch at work and whatever for dinner maybe some choc too and 2 coffees in a day and I make my daily calorie intake to be in between 700- 1200

madamim · 24/09/2024 10:27

HI All,

Thank you for your comments.

Yesterdays calories 1480

The reason I'm not focusing on fruits and vegetables is the that I am focusing on macros such as trying to keep my protein high around 30g per meal and my meals satiating.

The snack ended up being my dinner, I am uploading my meals/food as I am eating them.

Yes I have over 100lbs to loose, so I don't see the point of tracking things like lettuce/tomatoes.

@Poisonwood oh yes been there and done that. Yes I am using this to keep me accountable as my relationship with food is bonkers. Good foods/bad foods/ must clear a plate etc. Any diet I have tried previously I have been very strict and end up falling off the wagon and bingeing. Now I trying to not demonise any foods and stay with in suggested serving sizes for items that were previously 'bad foods' and add foods low in calorie (which have fibre in them which keep me full) to add the volume 😁

@Puttingupscaffolds should a big mac fit into my macros, then I'll have one!

Breakfast eating at 11am

x 4 egg omelette 312 cals 28g protein
mushrooms
x 1 sourdough 136 cals 5g protein
x 1 slice Emmental cheese 92 cals 6g protein

You can have snacks or mayo or cheese, as long as it fits into your calories
If you cut everything out it's most likely you will just fail and binge

To lose weight regardless of calories need to cut out UPF !! Seem pointless to me to eat crap if you are trying to lose weight. Just eat clean food and exercise and weight will drop off.

MakingPlans2025 · 25/09/2024 10:44

If you have 100lb to lose then 1480 per day is not sustainable. I have lost five stone and my tips would be as follows:
Use a TDEE calculator to figure out realistic calorie deficit that you will be able to stick to. If you go too low you won't sustain it and you'll binge.
Learn to track properly by the gram. Use MFP or join Team Rh and use their new app. Track everything that passes your lips including drinks.
Don't cut out whole food groups, this is not sustainable.
Try to move more. Increase your steps if nothingl else.
Try to address the root cause of your previous over eating. Otherwise you won't actually change your habits.
Good luck.
(Please ignore the people telling you not to have mayo 😏 just weigh it and track it properly).

madamim · 25/09/2024 12:32

Lunch

Chicken and Bacon club sandwich 518 cals
Quavers 107 cals
Bounty 278 cals
Total 903

Not saying not to have mayo....but don't have quavers, bounty and a processed shop bought sandwich !!!

MakingPlans2025 · 25/09/2024 13:23

I don't disagree broadly on the UPF point but it does kind of depend on the starting point. Tracking calories in is critical data. Maybe OP is working onsite somewhere and would normally have had a macdonalds? All progress is good progress and you have to start small and realistic when overhauling your life.

madamim · 25/09/2024 14:21

@Puttingupscaffolds

Why do you care? can you go and find a post that's discussing UPF's and post on there.

So what if today for lunch I had a sandwhich, crisps and chocolate from a coffee van. I work on an industrial estate and because I prioritised helping my child this morning, I couldn't stop on my way to work to grab a salad bag otherwise I would have been late to work.

Not every day is perfect and its about making the best choices for me that time.
