I am desperate to lose weight, i have fibromyalgia and pmdd. This means between pain, fatigue and low mood it is an absolute nightmare to stay focused and cooking and eating healthily
realistically i need to lose around 4 stone. Has anyone successfully lost and maintained with chronic illness. At the moment it feels impossible, Im hoping some positive stories will inspire me!

Yes me. I never weighed myself but gone from a 14/16 to a 6 (I'm petite) since May 2023.
I have chronic fatigue syndrome, ptsd, chronic pain to name but a few. I can't exercise and am mainly housebound.

I found changing one thing at a time helped. I started with meal planning and ordering of food to reduce the daily mental load by having a rotating menu.
I then started intermittent fasting (to help with ibs/gastric issues) which helped me feeling better in myself. I then started calorie counting and just logging everything made me think about what I was eating and did I need two slices of toast, or would one be enough etc. After the first few days of if I stopped feeling hungry and now I have the opposite issue it makes me feel ill eating to early/late and makes me want to eat more.
I also am happy to be flexible/have days off occasionally but find I still eat in moderation. I fast anything from 16-19 hours depending on what I'm doing. I keep snack/treat food to a minimum in the house. I also have quick low calorie healthy options in the house eg batch cooked food or tomatoes/egg/beans on toast for when I'm feeling unwell. It's been slow and steady but it's helped that my gastric symptoms have improved (not gone) so I don't want to go back to a point where I was feeling sick every day etc. I think seeing and acknowledging the positive changes along the way has helped remind me to continue now I'm at maintenance time.

Me!

I have CPTSD and Hashimoto’s. Keto is the only thing that worked for me. Really really low carb.
