Wegovy or Ozempic?

Hi there,

I'm looking to start one of the weight loss injections.
I'm not too sure exactly what the difference is between wegovy and ozempic?
I am also quite worried about the price - can anyone recommend the most cost efficient way to purchase them?
Lastly how do you know when to increase - decrease dosages?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated x

Hi @Yololivelaughlove

Wegovy and Ozempic are exactly the same medicine. It's just called Ozempic if its prescribed for diabetes, and Wegovy if it's prescribed for weight loss. There's another weight loss injection called Mounjaro, which is similar but has an additional ingredient which appears to help you lose a little more weight then if you take Wegovy, but there are pros and cons to both medications.

I'm afraid I can't help you on price as I live in Ireland.

If you use VOY they're really good you can chat to a clinician anytime. I use them currently I have a discount code if you want to use every little helps as it is bloody expensive lol. They do wegovy, mounjaro and saxenda xx

ozempic shouldn't be prescribed for weight loss now that wegovy is on the market. Your prescriber will increase your dose as you go. I went with boots which was fine.
