Anyone doing fast 800?

Fast800 · 17/03/2024 08:57

I’m planning to start fast 800 tomorrow. Anyone else doing it?

I’ve done it before and had some success before falling off the wagon. I really need to start it again if you fancy a buddy? I do much better if I have someone else to keep me motivated/from reaching for the chocolate!

Fast800 · 17/03/2024 16:15

Yes pls @Clettercletterthatsbetter . I’ve also tried before and gave up! It did work but then I had a long family emergency.

I’ve planned my menu for the first 5 days.

What are you planning to eat, @Fast800?

I find breakfast hard to negotiate. And my danger period is usually 4-7pm, while making the kids dinner I find it hard not to snack or finish their leftovers!

Fast800 · 17/03/2024 17:33

I’m skipping breakfast and my food shopping is not coming until later in the day so lunch is based on what I have in the house.

Lunch

  • Greek yoghurt, berries and mixed seeds (418 kcals, 16.2g protein)
Dinner
  • Prawn stir fry with sesame seeds (410 kcal and 36.8g protein)

It comes to 828 kcal in total.

That looks great! I find I’m much more successful at dieting if I plan my meals the day before (and log it in MFP), then there isn’t any room for manoeuvre/deviating from the plan!

I’ll have a think about what I can have tomorrow…

Fast800 · 18/03/2024 07:22

Good tips. I also find that period of time around the kids tricky. Do you have a plan for today?

I managed to have a big argument with DH so couldn’t get to sleep and then spent 4 hours up with the youngest who has a cold every time she laid down it set off her asthma cough. There is never an easy time to diet so I’m plodding on.

How’s it going @Fast800? I’m not doing too badly - not quite managing 800 but between 850 and 950 today and yesterday.
I’m relying on protein shakes a fair bit, mostly because I have a load in the cupboard and it takes the hassle out of deciding what to eat! At lunchtime I fried some light halloumi and had that with veg which was nice.

Do you have a goal of how much you want to lose and by when?

Darklane · 19/03/2024 16:37

Yes, I’ve been doing it for a couple of months but haven’t lost a single pound! Which really has me stumped, can’t understand it. I log everything on My Fitness Pal so know I’m not going over. I just have tea for breakfast then soup or salad for lunch & protein & veg for dinner. Really fed up, how can it not work 🤷‍♀️

Fast800 · 19/03/2024 16:46

Are you staying under 800 kcals and getting 50g protein? Part of the reason I’m doing it is I think I have an under active thyroid. I have a dr appointment in 3 1/2 weeks so I want to give losing weight a good go and log my calories so I can give the GP precise info. With a bit of luck though I will lose weight.

Yes, I am doing all that. But I have an under active thyroid, been on thyroxine for years so it’s well regulated but still doesn’t help I suppose.

Hi, well done. I have realised I need to have 2 to 3 tea or coffee with milk to keep going and I’m not counting them in 800 kcal.

Yesterday I did half the steps I normally do and had to skip swimming which may explain why I found it easy. I’m not hungry but I’m having to stop myself from ‘having a little nibble’. I must eat more than I realise.

I have 4 1/2 stone to lose to fast 800 isn’t going to help me do that. I’m going on holiday in 12 weeks so in an ideal world I would love to be 1 1/2 stone down by then. Do you have an end goal?

When did you last have a review for your thyroid?

Two months ago

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 20/03/2024 14:04

@Fast800 I’d like to lose 10-11kg, and reach my goal weight by my birthday (early July). It’s 15 weeks away so should be doable if I stick to it! I’ve got an event in about 10 weeks and I’d like to have lost the majority of it by then.

Day 3 here and I’ve just had lunch - two boiled eggs sliced onto a piece of bread (no butter). Breakfast was a protein shake and I had a snack of a small can of tuna mid-morning as I did an exercise class and needed to eat beforehand or I wouldn’t have managed the class! I’m trying not to think about how I’ve only got another protein shake to look forward to for the rest of the day!

Fast800 · 20/03/2024 15:02

All sounds very do able. Have you got a new outfit for your event or are you waiting? Or do you have an existing outfit to diet into?

I was up at 5 this morning with an ill child and as I’m skipping breakfast I was really hungry by lunch time. I’m currently eating posh veg packet things from Tesco with precooked chicken breasts or hot smoked salmon.

@Clettercletterthatsbetter how is it going? I had a few nibbles of children’s toast yesterday.

I've just started today too! God I'm hungry 🤣

Grumpy19 · 20/02/2025 23:34

@Darklane
I've been doing this for the last 6 weeks with very limited success. Like you track every calorie etc. Did you find a reason. I just feel if 800 calories a day can't shift the weight nothing ever will 😣

ZenNudist · 20/02/2025 23:47

I've lost 10kg but I think that's down to the running. I read that if you reduce calories too much your metabolism slows down.

At my weight my TDEE is 1200 and nhs recommend 500 calories under TDEE to lose. So that takes me to 700 cals per day so 800 calories is too much to help me lose without exercise as well.

loveyouradvice · 22/02/2025 13:48

Good luck all of you - It's such a brilliant diet.

I did it for the full 12 weeks, after 2 friends had lost 23lbs and 24lbs on it

I managed 22lbs which felt - and looked - fab!!
