Mounjaro vs Wegovy

I tried ozempic last year which helped me stop over eating when I got to 1.5mg
but I had to stop when UK supplies ran out and the price trebled even if you could find any to buy.
I really need to lose weight for orthopaedic surgery so am now thinking either mounjaro or wegovy.
Wegovy I think would be ok side effect wise ( I just had some constipation on ozempic which was cured with lactulose) but I read that mounjaro is more effective.
Has anybody moved to mounjaro after ozempic/wegovy and is it better and did you have more or different side effects please?

I found oxempic and wegovy to be exactly the same side effect wise. Not tried mounjarp

@Chocbuttonsandredwine yes they are the same drug semaglutide just at different strengths. That’s why I thought wegovy would be ok as I hadn’t experienced side effects.
Mounjaro is a different drug though so I’m wary of it but read it is much more effective hence am tempted.

Murnjaro has two ingredients. The same ingredient as wegovy /ozempic and one other ingredient. Both to stop hunger etc.

I was on wegovy for a few weeks before deciding to switch to murnjaro, so don't have good experience of both. But I have definitely lose more weight on 2 weeks of murnjaro than I did with 2 weeks on wegovy.

Hoping to revive this thread as I'm considering the same? If anyone has any advice / views on which they think is better I'd appreciate it, thanks

I’m on Mounjaro, have never taken Wegovy so can’t compare, however I can say that after following both Wegovy and Mounjaro threads on here before starting that there is a whole lot more nausea and vomiting going on with Wegovy than with Mounjaro! Also more weight loss with Mounjaro.

Wegovy is a GLP-1, Mounjaro is both a GLP-1 and GIP. Without getting into too much complicated science, the GIP bit helps prevent nausea and vomiting while also enhancing the appetite suppressing effects. The Mounjaro thread still has reports of gastrointestinal side effects but not regular vomiting and sickness etc.

So less sickness, more weight loss, easy choice for me.

@lurkylurk couldn’t agree more- well put. I can understand those starting wegovy before MJ available but it seemed a slam dunk for me. No significant side effects on 2.5mg; some on the 1st jab of 5mg but settled on 2nd. Bigger weight loss. I am 14kg down (2 stone in old money) after 6 weeks with no effort or distress.

i haven’t looked into it myself but believe there’s pre-existing health conditions which could be a factor.

I tried ozempic last year. I didn’t really lose any weight on it and had bad side effects so gave up. I started mounjaro on the lowest dose yesterday and so far I think it might be better. The food thoughts are switched off. Very strange! Obviously it’s early days
