I don’t know much about him but I will say from my own experience there are very few men who really understand female weight loss or health and fitness. Many have spent years in the male body building community and have their own skewed views and experiences. I find it helps to be able to relate to the person who is giving me advice. Just look around at what advice you want - lots of it is free from places like YouTube

Vegetus · 26/02/2024 15:35

Eddie Abbew is an idiot and anybody who advocates not eating fruit is moronic at best.

notgoodatdeciding · 26/02/2024 15:51

He's out to make money that's all.
He's encouraging people to cut out most essential food groups and above all talks bs, none of its science based he spends most of his time training in the gym so it's irrelevant what he eats.
He's a ex steroid user who is trying to make a buck off his ex body building. AVOID.
Eat healthy but don't live on 16 eggs and a jar of olives.

Menora · 26/02/2024 16:01

Would you have to take laxatives to survive on Eddies diet if he is advocating 16 eggs a day? You would be so bunged up!

AstralSpace · 26/02/2024 16:09

He always seemed to be giving advice to bodybuilders from what I've seen? I do like how he highlights all the sugary crap shit food and tells us to avoid it. I'd do that but not sure about his diet plan.

I didn’t realise he did this!!

Yeah I like the bashing of ultra processed food but I think he may be a bit OTT with the rest of it

OP posts:
McQueensMuse · 26/02/2024 20:23

I don't think he advocates giving up fruit entirely, Just that you should stick to berries whilst trying to lose fat.
I've seen this advice given elsewhere too.

It's basically the keto diet he is promoting and staying away from processed foods,. Isn't it?

Treesaregreen1 · 26/02/2024 20:35

he posted a vid in recent days saying it’s not keto it’s just eating real foods but the more I watch, yes I think it’s keto

OP posts:
Fifiellz · 26/02/2024 21:22

He recommends sweet potato's and rice so he's not really keto, just advocating for real foods in its natural state.

Unfortunately although that advice is sound, the demonisation of every other manufactured food product would be an unhealthy approach for someone that wants a sustainable long term healthy diet.

samthebordercollie · 27/02/2024 13:53

He is an idiot whose theories are constantly being debunked by people like Dr Idz and Dr Layne Norton. Don't waste your money, follow the science!

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 27/02/2024 15:08

I would bet alot of money that he doesn't even eat the diet he promotes. It's all about ££££ and tik tok views. Controversy sells.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/03/2024 13:18

Saw he’s helping Gemma Collins… not sure how that’ll work out!

Sounds like keto or a variation on that.

PawsisShady · 02/03/2024 13:25

He seems to insinuate that all cancers are caused by diet and replied to me I could cure my severe blood disorder by stopped eating shit
No thanks

maybein2022 · 02/03/2024 14:53

I follow him on Instagram but press mute every so often. 🤣 SOME of what he says is sensible. Eat real food. Stop eating crap. But his delivery, the way his food looks SO unappealing (chucking meat in a pan with Brussels sprouts, berries, avacado etc- no), complete failure to understand people’s personal circumstances and budgets for example is very grating. Also the promotion of no or little carbs is annoying, especially now he’s started on about kids. (Although I agree with what he says about promoting junk food to kids with clever marketing). Also no one needs to eat 12 eggs a day….. He also doesn’t actually seem to eat that many vegetables which is weird and not healthy. Also shouting at people and telling them how awful this stuff is generally doesn’t help.

So yes, some things are good that he says. Some are not.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 03/03/2024 06:37

Following @PawsisShady and @maybein2022 ’s comments I concur that the man sounds like a charlatan and his diets don’t look great! It’s worrying though because the GC signing up to him has lots of followers, a few of whom will blindly follow him and her like sheeple especially as she’s now lost a stone with him.

You do need a combination of foods, whether that’s reducing carbs and upping protein.

Michael Moseley with his C4 recent programmes at least ensures you eat healthier cutting out junk but keeping in everything else like fruit and vegetables. I’ve upped my beetroot intake for one based on Moseley.

ThursdayLastWeek · 03/03/2024 07:17

Good lord the man’s a click bait obsessed poser.

Dr Idz, Ben Carpenter, The fitness chef, even James Smith provide much more stable rational advice.

Alwaystransforming · 03/03/2024 07:20

I know him. I used to be a body builder and some close friend were coached by him and we socialised.

i wouldn’t put any money in that man’s hands. Some of his more recent social media stuff is wrong, scaremongering and ridiculous

I mean we all know some stuff is better than others
But I don't see the issue with fruit, some dark chocolate, the odd bit of processed food
There's scales of "bad" isn't there? Like no crisps to plain tortilla chips (the cheapest have the least ingredients) to something like discos

Once a week I eat a shop bought pizza, I'm not going to stress over it. I mean stress is bad for you too! He also isn't allowing for the fact that people can't afford bloody meat, avocado and nuts for every meal. And red meat linked to bowel cancer but he never seems to mention that

bahhamburgers · 04/03/2024 08:19

I don’t follow his advice specifically, but I’ve been sort of doing what he preaches for 3 years now and have never felt better. I will never go back to eating processed food after a huge health scare.

I don’t eat anything processed at all (easy as I am coeliac, so gluten free processed food is even more filled with shit than “normal”, I just don’t want it in my body and have to cook from scratch), I don’t eat sugar or any fake sugar.

I eat eggs (not 16 at a time, I’d be bored, full and sick!), lots of meat, nuts, plain Greek yogurt, lentils, lots of vegetables, only use animal fats.

I don’t eat fruit just because it’s never been something I enjoy (yes I know, so many to choose from, but we all have our preferences in life, fruit is not one of mine).

I will eat any vegetable going though, and eat lots. I tend to stick to low carb, but all the carbs I do eat are from dark green veg mainly, and basically everything else too.

I only drink water and green tea.

I chuckle at his videos of meal deals etc because yeah, I think it’s all shit too!

LivelyLemonDuck · 04/03/2024 08:24

His tiktoks are entertaining but you don't need his weightloss book specially if money is tight. It's essentially low carb with unprocessed food and once a week 'cheat' meal and working out.
There are many free resources online and recipes, you do not need to pay to lose weight.

I agree, but there are some people who need help to start with.

I’ve been pressed on what I eat a few times (I’ve lost 11 stone so people are sometimes interested), and I’ve often been met with a horrified look and asked “omg, what do you eat?!!” When I have told them what I wrote above.

Many people have no idea what to do with fresh meat and vegetables and rely on heavily processed food.

samthebordercollie · 04/03/2024 09:28

I put him in the same category as Dave Asprey, Paul Saladino and Gary Brecka - quite entertaining, a little truth in some of what they preach but certainly not to be believed 100%. Thankfully there is Layne Norton to debunk theories of people like this.

sunshinestar1986 · 21/05/2024 09:34

It's far better than conventional advice
People with chronic illnesses do fantastic on this diet
If you're otherwise fit and healthy and have always eaten that way
You probably won't benefit much
But any autoimmune conditions etc can improve a lot,
NHS is a bit crap tbh, can you imagine being diabetic and the advice is just eat sugar moderately
No, cut it out completely obviously
Maybe just have it a few times a year on special occasions
Just act like you're allergic to it
My opinion anyway lol
