Please help I am using nutracheck and consuming 1200 calories a day, I exercise 5 times a week and do allow these calories, so probably 1400 a day. After a week of this i felt certain I would lose weight but I gained 1lb!!!! I am gutted. I am 11st 3lbs and 5ft 4 so def have weight to lose.

Has anyone else had this or any advice please.

Stick with it. I never see results for at least a month, it's always very demoralising but I've learned that eventually it does pay off.

I usually gain when I start exercising!

Whilst your muscles are repairing they will hold onto water and therefore your weight will be higher. If you have suddenly increased your excercise then you will retain water and your weight will be higher even if you have lost fat.

Have you been weighing yourself daily? Essentially weighing yourself once on one week and then once a week later tells you nothing. A pound is natural variation, no one can tell their exact weight to the pound. It can be a big shit, it can be water retention, a big meal, starting your period. It means fuck all. You need to track the trend of weight and look at the overall trend rather than this week I gained/lost a pound

As long as you are genuinely being honest with yourself about what you are eating, and accurately tracking calories you will lose weight on 1400kcal a day and excercise 5 days a week.

Log everything you eat or drink accurately. Depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle this lb could disappear along with a couple more next week. As long as you are in a calorie deficit you will lose weight unless you have a condition like an under active thyroid. Weight loss isn't always a straight line. No need to cut out major food groups.

Do you have digital kitchen scales?

Thank you everyone, there is some great takeaways here.

I will be more patient as historically I give up when I don't see results on the scales.

I will try not to use my additional calories from exercise but I need to balance that with having enough fuel in my body to exercise as I am training for a half marathon.

What about results with the tape measure?

Measure waist, hips, belly, thighs and under & over bust.

It's very very common to gain weight while training for things like a marathon. You body will send way more hunger hormones out after long sustained exercise.
