Wedding weight loss

Soooo....I already have my dress and it fits fine, well it did before Christmas, and will be ok once the straps are shortened...

However, it would look better if I could drop 1.5-2 stone before August.

I weighed myself pre Xmas and wanted to cry when it read 18.6st which is the heaviest I have ever been, I was lower til about August last year when I trapped a nerve in my back and literally couldn't walk more than a few steps for months.

I am a lot better now. Have renewed my gym membership today and we have been eating far better this last 2 weeks than prior to Xmas. I have already lost about 4lb I think ( not due to weigh til tuesday)

I have a pack of orlistat in the cupboard but the horror stories have out me off trying it!

I am looking at gentle things incan do at home before work as the gym doesn't open early enough for me to go before work and I have a very sedantry job so need to get my arse in gear!! Had anyone used these weight hula hoops? Do they work? Are they worth it?

Thanks.

Just get up and go for a 30 minute walk if you can. I wouldn't even worry about the gym aspect so much, Because of your size losing the first lot of weight will be so easy anyway! Provided you eat responsibly and get a good total of steps in it will fall off you.

Don't need to kill yourself right off the bar, save the grueling stuff for when you need to implement it.

Unfortunately I have a young child so going for a walk before work isn't an option as she isn't old enough to be left alone.

Calorie count and walk more.

Calculate what calories you need to eat to lose weight on the free James Smith Academy calculator and log everything you eat on my fitness pal, at least for a bit. It’s eye opening! Weight loss is almost all through diet, tjough moving more is good for you

As an aside, I’m glad I was fat in my wedding pics as I don’t have to look back and feel bad now 😂

But a kettle bell
amd some dumbbells and follow some of the workouts on YouTube or TikTok.

15 ‘ins with a kettlebell will burn a huge number of kcal if you do it properly

My partner and I are on a wedding weight lost mission too ! I’ve lost 1.5stone and he’s lost nearly 3 stone and that’s in 3months.

we’re calorie counting : he uses goal plans (food plan/subscription) I’m just basic calorie counting

my bridesmaid has also lost 2.5stone using SW

I’d calorie count and stick your child in a buggy and do lots of walking

It's not the hour in the gym that'll make a difference it's what you put in your mouth for the other 23 hours in the day that count.

Want a weight loss buddy? I want to shift at least 2 stone before my wedding, ideally 4! I have ordered hello fresh (portion control) and given up beer so far

Absolutely!

Portion control is an issue for me and also emotional crutch chocolate.

Whilst it might not have come across in the right way, it’s right. You can’t out exercise a bad diet or outrun your fork.

you need to work out your calorie intake for the day and stick to it religiously. Track everything inc sauces, oils and drinks.

At your weight reducing your kcal to 1500-1750 a day should see a very quick and noticeable weight loss.

As a side note… I’d be concerned if your dress fits now that if you lose 2 stone in might not. I’ve lost 3.5 stone this year and have dropped 3 sometimes 4 dress sizes.

MissSmiley · 08/01/2024 09:48

No intention to be rude it’s fact. It’s what the PT at the gym tells everyone.

The PT is correct.
Exercise does not make you lose weight unless you are training like an athlete.
To lose weight you need to watch what you eat
Op, someone suggested walking . You can walk in the evening ( put the your child in a buggy and walk for thirty minutes)
If you can’t do the evening then walk during the weekend .

Menora · 08/01/2024 10:09

It might be a bit of a crude way to say it but you need to change your diet not just start exercising, and you already said you can’t walk more so therefore nothing much can change otherwise would it?
Walk more and eat less it really is simple, it’s just not easy. You don’t need to go hard in a gym to see results.

FiveShelties · 08/01/2024 10:15

Definitely not rude, just fact. You can't walk off a bad diet.
