Looking for experiences/succes stories with orlistat.

I started Orlistat on 1/1/24 and have lost 5lbs in one week (16 stone 9 down to 16 stone 4).

I've managed to eat fairly healthily bar one takeaway, only managed to go to the gym once and wanted to swim as well but didn't get the chance.

Hi all, I've just ordered some Orlistat. I want to start them right away but I'm going out with family for pizza at lunchtime on Saturday and don't want to have any accidents!
How long do they stay in your system? If I take them today and tomorrow but not on Saturday, will I be ok??
Any help appreciated. I'm 13st 4 and wanting to get back to 9st 7lbs.

How's everyone getting on? Thinking of trying so wondered if few months on, any of you guys would recommend :)

I’m 15lbs down! Probably over about 12 or so weeks. Working really well for me, side effects are manageable and I’ve been watching calories and general food intake but not denying myself completely . Want to get to 2 stone then will work out whether to carry on but defo keen to stick with it!

@LionAndEmperor I've just come back from holiday. I didn't take Orlistat at all whilst I was away as I was camping and couldn't rely on getting to toilet block quickly. However, it reckon it took a good week to 10 days before it was completely out of my system. No issues, thankfully. I guess it's too late to reply to your question regarding the pizza but thought the answer might be useful for you and others. :-)

Ok to join please? I've just recently started orlistat I've lost 7lb in a week was just wondering if that's ok or to fast ? 😊

MaxandMinniesMummy · 20/08/2024 19:46

That’s a great start. I don’t think that’s too much for week one but if it happens again in week two I would be concerned. Stick with it and keep us updated 🤗

Well done on your weight loss I'm on 1400 calories a day and walking 4 times a week I'm on a calorie counting app and I started on the 16th of August this year and I've done my first weigh in and I'm 12st 3 and the doctor recommended to weigh myself every 2 weeks so fingers crossed 🤞

Ink38 · 12/09/2024 23:17

So as I previously said on my last post I've been on 120mg of orlistat since August 16 2024 so I'm slightly confused what my calories should be as I'm on 1400 at the moment but I'm not even sure what calories I should be on I'm finding it confusing as doctor mentioned it wasn't calorie controlled it was fat any advice would be great please

MaxandMinniesMummy · 13/09/2024 16:01

I’ve been really naughty lately and not been taking Orlistat. I’m holding steady though. Need to get back onto it.

@Ink38 check out the NHS Weight Loss app, you just put in your weight and activity level and it will tell you what you should be consuming each day.

Hi all, I am so glad I found this thread. I started Orlistat on 25 September, it is now 7 October so exactly 2 weeks, I have lost 2.6kg (5.7 lbs).

I am hoping to lose 17 kg (37.5 lbs) overall, so really pleased with such a flying start.

In this time, I did almost no exercise, did walk 10,000 steps one day by accident, but otherwise I am very sedentary and eat well.

I found this thread because of what happened this morning. I had no orange oil problems at all in the past 2 weeks until this morning. I got too confident. Thought the side effects weren't a problem for me.

Life came at me fast.

After eating a particularly oily homemade paella yesterday (you can't tell because the oil is in the ricey sauce itself), I went to the loo in the morning and had an orange oil explosion when I passed wind.... Honestly it took me aback, I have never seen anything like it!!!!

Anyway, TMI there, but what I can say is that it does ABSOLUTELY work by aversion therapy (besides just the lipase inhibition bit) - no way am I eating anything like that again, sticking to the low fat foods I have been eating that have caused me no problems until today!

Hi I’ve just found this thread, I’m on day 3, no side effects yet. I’m using ChatGPT to count my calories and fat intake. It’s also giving recipes that are suitable! I just wondered how everyone was getting on?

I'm afraid I stopped it after a couple of months as the toilet issue just did not work for me with my job, and related stomach cramps 😔. It also doesn't help with hunger or cravings in my experience- it has no ingredient to do so.
