Why have i put on weight?

I can’t work it out. Diet hasn’t changed at all. Healthy, clean eater. Exercise a lot. More weights and strength work than cardio. I’m 52, post meno.

but I’m about 4/5 lbs heavier than usual - been like this for a few weeks

only thing I can think is lifting heavier weights and doing more stuff like deadlifting and heavier squats.

But not every session.

it’s depressed me!

Any medication? Have you had your blood pressure checked? You could be retaining fluid…

You're probably putting on muscle. Why are you lifting weights if a few pounds gained will make you miserable? It's the inevitable consequence of your actions.

But if you don't think it's muscle, see the doctor. I put on over a stone over a few months, had a simple blood test, and was diagnosed with low thyroid. I take pills now and the weight is coming off again. It was quite worrying for a bit.
