How to get back on it

I‘ve done really well to maintain my weight this year and was close to reaching my goal weight. However recently there have been a few special occasions/ holidays etc and I‘ve buried my head in the sand.

This morning I finally weighed myself and I have put on 5lb!!

What can I do to get rid of it quickly, apart from chopping off a limb?

I’m so annoyed with myself.

Well done for facing up to the scales.

From today get back to eating well, drinking water, moving your body, getting enough sleep.

Most of that will be water weight and will shift quite quickly.

Do what I'm doing this week - make a biiiiig old pot of soup filled with chicken and veg, and eat it for lunch and tea. Then do it again!

No breakfast, no snacks.

I lost four stone doing this and now just do it if I have been on holiday or whatever and put a few pounds back on.

Thanks. I really hope it is just water weight.

I really like the soup idea! I love soup anyway, especially at this time of year. Never thought to eat it both lunch and dinner.

A few days intermittent fasting every week for a couple of weeks?

A 6 hour eating window to 18 hours fasting ("16/8") or 5/19 etc. should do it.

The most important things for me are:

  • Accepting first and foremost that you will probably not be able to do a 180 turn back into healthy eating. The first couple of days will be more of a struggle but don't let this put you off or make you feel like you are failing to get back on track.
  • Taking in adequate water generally, and especially in those first few days. Try making sure you are really hydrated before having your first food of the day
  • Being active, even going for a nice walk with music are
  • Intermittent fasting
