Six Pack Revolution protein bars alternatives

Hi,
Really pleased that SPR has launched protein bars (I've done two waves and am maintaining pretty well so far) as it's so much easier to have ready made snacks that you can take out with you (that you don't need cutlery to eat!). I've only tried the peanut ones so far but really like them.

Only thing is it's a bit of a pain that they can only be bought online, plus they're quite expensive. Does anyone know of any other similar nice tasting protein bars with the same amount of protein and minimal nasties/processed ingredients? Struggling to find something.

OR any good recipes to make my own? The SPR ones only contain 2dates, 15 peanuts, 4 cacao beans and 3 egg whites so I was wondering if I could knock up my own version (although I'm not sure about the egg whites - do you think you just mix it all together and bake??)

Just looked at these and it's some of the worst macros for a protein bar I've ever seen. 30 quid for 12 is outrageous, you're being conned! If you want a protein rich snack not full of additives just have some boiled eggs.

If you do want a protein bar the fulfill ones are nice and not full of too much shit and can get them in home bargains and b&m for about 1.50 each.

Hi. Thank you. Interested to know what’s so bad about the macros? I’ve just looked at the ones you recommend - they seem to have more ingredients plus sweeteners?

I do eat things like eggs but really want some variety and i like the convenience of a bar.

3 babybel light have the same protein and half the calories?

Fudgingit85 · 07/11/2023 10:54

That’s a good suggestion @WithIcePlease - although I do like something sweet now and then…😁

If you want something sweet why not just carry a small pot with the dates, peanuts and cacao beans? It will be a lot cheaper and better for your health. Those bars tend to be full of emulsifiers, vegetable oils and other things you body does not need which cause inflammation and gut dysbiosis.

Fudgingit85 · 07/11/2023 12:00

@Bubbles254 yes that's why I was wondering if I could make my own version without the emulsifiers etc in it - just not sure how to incorporate the egg whites?

These sound nice @Bubbles254 - thank you!

They are selling egg whites in lidl now
I saw a bottle the other day
Didn't look to see exactly what was in it though but I've just googled and the only ingredient seems to be egg whites

Fudgingit85 · 07/11/2023 23:46

@WithIcePlease but what do I do with the egg whites if I’m trying to recreate the bars at home? Mix everything up and bake it?

@Fudgingit85

I mentioned the egg white as egg white is an ingredient in the recipe mentioned earlier.
They are also added to scrambled eggs, omelette etc to boost protein intake. I've not used them myself
