I need help and motivation

My weight is really getting me down but somehow I don't seem able to get my brain into gear to eat healthy.
I'm peri so that's not helping and I seem to have developed a sweet tooth. I could honestly eat for England. I used to be a size 8-10 and weighed about 9.5 stone.
I'm now a size 14 and the last time I got weighed I was 12 stone.

I want to lose at least a stone and a half but i don't know where to start. I have a gym membership but I never seem to have the time to go. I drink too much alcohol. I have a fairly active job but I don't exercise at all.

I'm currently laid in bed after just having a hot chocolate and biscuits 😣
I started the day reasonably well porridge for breakfast, sandwich and some fruit for lunch then since dinner it's all just gone to pot.

Is anyone able to give me motivation or just some advice on where to start!

You need to be really determined. Something in your brain just has to click.
I need to lose a few pounds, I’ve just bought an outfit that I want to wear for a Christmas party at the end of November. That’s my motivation right now. Can you do something like that?

I would prioritise the gym, especially if you’ve membership. Just go!

This is a cycle so the key is to break it. You have to want to do it. Also if you are breaking cycles with things that make you feel miserable they don’t last.

Exercise is not the key to weight loss, it helps for so many things like your bones and MH but you can lose weight without going to a gym so it’s not the be all and end all. You could walk more. You could swim. You need to find something you do like doing. Dancing? Anything. You could do it from home and then build up to going to the gym but don’t focus on this. Focus on what you are eating and drinking. Mindfulness is pretty much the answer. Don’t buy the things you know you will binge on. Whenever you reach for something make yourself present in the moment ‘do I really want this?’ and find yourself other distractions and get out of your same old routine because that’s what’s leading to you eating the same things every day. Make some healthy swaps gradually. Rediscover your taste for healthy fresh food, it will make the sugary things taste a little bit rubbish over time. I don’t each much fruit as I think it just makes me want to eat more sugar so I eat more veg. Just focus on things tasting nice, being less synthetic. When feeling down or stressed, try to find something else other than eating to do to cheer yourself up - paint your nails, have a bath, go for a walk, read a book, play a game. Your brain is looking for rewards. Reward it with mental stimulation
